Who Plays The XWing Pilots In The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 2

Here’s who plays the two X-Wing pilots in The Mandalorian season 2, episode 2, “The Passenger.” After the surprising season 2 premiere, Jon Favreau’s Star Wars Disney+ show returned for a creature-filled episode directed by Peyton Reed. The episode saw Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) agree to transport a Frog Lady across the galaxy in exchange for information on where to find another Mandalorian.

During Mando’s space travels, which couldn’t be done using hyperspeed, he and the Razor Crest were discovered by a pair of X-Wing pilots from the New Republic. The pilots were looking for Imperial stragglers and set their sights on capturing Din after he failed to follow their commands. Although he managed to escape the pilots, the ice planet he crashed on was filled with dangerous ice spiders that nearly killed him, Baby Yoda, and their passenger. However, the same X-Wing pilots returned at the last second to save them from their impending deaths and decided to let them go. With significant roles in the episode, who played the pilots?

The two X-Wing pilots in The Mandalorian season 2, episode 2 are a blend of familiar and new. Once the show cut to inside the cockpits, one of the pilots was revealed to be Mandalorian producer/director and Star Wars: Rebels creator Dave Filoni. He reprised his role as the pilot known as Trapper Wolf. The other pilot is a new addition to Star Wars, as viewers met Captain Carson Teva, played by Kim’s Convenience star Paul Sun-Hyung Lee.

Filoni’s role as Trapper Wolf is the second appearance he’s had as the character in The Mandalorian. He originally appeared in The Mandalorian season 1, episode 6. In that episode, Wolf responded to a tracking beacon triggered at one of the New Republic’s correctional transports. He arrived at the station just as Din Djarin was fleeing the scene after signaling the beacon. Wolf didn’t have Carson Teva by his side in this experience, though, as it was Jib Dodger (Rick Famuyiwa) and Sash Ketter (Deborah Chow).

Paul Sun-Hyung Lee’s addition to The Mandalorian season 2, episode 2 was a surprise, as his addition was not previously reported. The Korean-Canadian actor is best known for playing Mr. Kim/Appa in Kim’s Convenience. The hit Canadian comedy also stars Simu Liu, who will play Shang-Chi in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Paul Sun-Hyung Lee joins John Leguizamo as one of the small, new additions to The Mandalorian’s cast in season 2. While Leguizamo’s Gor Karesh died in the first episode, Captain Carson Teva is still around, so this might not be the last we see of Paul Sun-Hyung Lee.
