Why Some Among Us Mods Arent Available To The Public

Mods are a common and popular part of Among Us, the hit social deduction game from indie studio InnerSloth. Although not made by the company, InnerSloth doesn’t appear to have issues with mods being implemented into its game. However, this does mean that all mods are created by fans. So, why are some mods not available to the public?

Mods in Among Us can allow for various game-changing mechanics. Mods that allow 100 players into a single lobby or change crewmates’ colors on a rotating basis have been fun ways to shake up gameplay. However, many of the most popular mods work by turning Impostors into overpowered icons from other games, pop culture, movies, and TV shows. Still, many fans have noticed that some of these mods aren’t available to the public and are often kept on private servers.

Understandably, many fans are disappointed at the prospect of missing out on popular mods. Recent popular mods, including the King Kong mod and Stranger Things mod in Among Us, are only available to the content creators and streamers who create them. This is likely done to keep views on their channels, but it doesn’t necessarily mean players won’t get into a game where the mod is being used. Of course, they’ll need some luck if this were to happen.

When Private Among Us Mods May Become Public

Once these mods have been shown, however, it means other fans can create public versions of them. Sites like Nexus Mods are open to the public, and Skeld.net specializes in Among Us mods. This means that some mods that start out as private – like the Stranger Things mod – may become publicly available if someone else creates a similar mod and releases it on one of those sites.

Unfortunately, this can sometimes take a lot of time. So, while new popular mods may be created only for streamers, like the Pennywise mod being created for SSundee, it’s possible variations of these mods will show up publicly at some point. Otherwise, players will need a bit of luck in order to get into a game that has the mods in use.

As fans of the social deduction game continue waiting for Among Us to get more updates and new maps, mods are a great way to mix up gameplay and add new challenging elements like overpowered Impostors or bigger player lobbies. Although not every popular mod is available to the public, more of them will hopefully get public releases for Among Us soon.
