Nintendo announced that its modern classic Wii Sports will live on thanks to an official follow-up for the Nintendo Switch.

Revealed during the company’s most recent Direct live stream, Nintendo Switch Sports will make full use of the JoyCon’s motion controllers to whisk players back to the days of the Wii. Fans of the original series can look forward to returning activities such as Bowling, Tennis and Chambara, which is more commonly known as Fencing. Beyond these classics, Switch Sports also includes three new games, namely Badminton, Volleyball and Soccer. Nintendo also confirmed that Golf will be added in a free update this fall.

Much like the original Wii Sports, players will need to swing their Joycons to interact with the game. This can take the form of smashing a tennis ball with a virtual racket or kicking a ball thanks to a leg strap included with the physical release of Switch Sports. The trailer also suggests that the Wii’s iconic Mii avatars will not be returning for this new installment but it seems like custom character models are still a possibility.

In terms of multiplayer, Switch Sports can be played either solo or with your in-person friends. While online games are will be an option, Nintendo confirmed that these will initially be restricted to random matchmaking meaning gamers won’t be able to play with their friends at launch. To ensure that Switch Sports can handle what may be a heavy server load, the publisher announced that it would be hosting an online playtest on Feb. 18-20. Fans looking to bat some digital balls around a court will need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to access this trial run.

Released in 2006, Wii Sports is widely considered to be a modern classic by many gamers, acting as a fun and accessible showcase of a console that initially confused long-time Nintendo fans. Bundled in with the Wii itself, players were able to use their Wiimote to experience five unique sports including Tennis, Bowling, Golf, Baseball and Boxing. Wii Sports was widely praised by fans and critics at launch with many reviewers commenting that the motion-controlled gameplay was surprisingly intuitive and accurate. In 2009, Nintendo released a sequel titled Wii Sports Resort which added new activities and a physical peripheral known as the WiiMotion Plus, allowing for more precise movements.

Nintendo Switch Sports launches on April 29.
