While the Russos had their moments where they could be kind to each other on the Disney Channel show, other times, they were not so pleasant. No one was against pulling pranks to get revenge, and it was a technique that was used frequently in their family. However, sometimes their actions went beyond jokes, entering personal territory.

They did not always consider another person’s feelings before doing what they wanted, as personal gain may have been more critical. The ramifications of their actions could be ignored until they were directly called out for the problem. Regardless of if it was intentional or not, each of the Russo family members have done something terrible toward each other.

10 Throwing Each Other Under The Bus

None of the Russos hesitated to push the blame onto another of their family when they were in trouble. Even though Alex had brought Cab 804 to life, she still jumped to get Max in trouble for doing the same to a gurney.

Justin informed their parents when Alex failed her Spanish midterm, and she repaid him by outing Justin and Max for playing paintball on the terrace. Jerry turns on Alex and Max when he plays a video game avatar that breaks Theresa’s favorite lamp. The cycle would go around and around.

9 Everyone Ignored Max’s Ideas

Max may not have been the most brilliant of the Russo family members, but there were moments when he did have something useful to say. However, given that he could be oblivious to his surroundings and was more random than intelligent, his family often ignored his ideas.

Justin’s Budget Binder is filled with concepts on how to cut back on spending to get more profit. His brilliant suggestions include a community napkin and straw that all the customers are meant to share. It is Max’s idea to open the substation to the Wizard World to bring in more money, and he is the one who reminds his brother and father that a community napkin and straw are a health hazard.

8 The Chocolate Incident

Justin and Max’s revenge goes a bit too far during “I Almost Drowned In A Chocolate Fountain.” To get back at Alex for busting them for paintball, they take advantage of a Pocket Elf’s reaction to chocolate. Giving a Pocket Elf, they hid in Alex’s purse some chocolate, and watching Alex’s bag go crazy was meant to be the entire prank. However, when the Pocket Elf bites Alex, things spiral from there.

The bite causes Alex to be obsessed with chocolate, taking everyone’s desserts, and drinking a large bowl of chocolate herself. Yet, it gets worse when Alex spills the bowl. Still affected by the bite, Alex dives, sliding through the chocolate in front of everyone.

7 Max Changing The Wizard Competition Date

The Sophisticated Wizard’s Club did not like the thought of Justin joining their circle, and were more amused by Max being their buffoon. They quickly convinced Max to change the date of the Wizard Competition to a day that would give Max an automatic win.

The date change does not last long, though. After a talk with Jerry, Max understands that he made a mistake and goes back to fix it. But, once he gets there, he finds that Alex and Justin have already beaten him to it, which leads to another problem.

6 Maxine

With Max transformed into Maxine indefinitely, the Russos must figure out how to handle the dilemma. Until Max can be changed back, he must live in the body of a little girl, separated from his friends. However, his family does not make the change easier on him. Rather than treating Max the same as they had, everyone looks at Max as a little girl. Jerry treats Max as another daughter, and Theresa excites herself by dressing Max in Alex’s old clothing.

When Professor Crumbs later visits, Alex and Justin are determined to keep Max away from Professor Crumbs, more interested in keeping themselves out of trouble than helping Max.

5 Releasing Monsters Into New York

Justin’s standing in the Wizard Competition raises during “Monster Hunter.” Moving on to an independent study course, Justin decides on Monster Hunting. Moving up in the competition makes Alex and Max more determined to raise their standings too.

While Alex tries a new study technique, Max decides to sabotage Justin’s independent study by releasing monsters from a pamphlet into New York City. While Alex saves Justin from many of them, some remain. Most specifically, the Mummy that took Juliet in “Night At The Lazerama” was due to Max’s decision. Later, in “Wizards vs. Werewolves,” they defeat the Mummy by unraveling him.

4 Justin’s Wizard Of The Year Speech

Alex won the Wizard Of The Year award for saving the world from the Angels of Darkness. Although her family is supposed to record heartwarming video messages, Justin does the opposite. He rants about how the award no longer has any meaning if the Wizard Council decided that Alex Russo was the valid recipient.

Justin makes a point to mention that he should have won the award due to his work with the delinquents. Later, at the ceremony, Justin tries to cover up his hologram and makes a larger scene, embarrassing the family.

3 Ruining Theresa’s Birthday

It was not a secret that Theresa did not enjoy magic. She had made a point of it several times, and when the kids suggested inviting Uncle Ernesto to her birthday, Theresa did only after the kids promised it would be a magic-free day. However, a shelf filled with unopened magic gifts was too big a temptation for the young wizards.

Attempting to keep magic run amok under control only makes everything worse and harder to explain to Uncle Ernesto. When Alex apologizes, Theresa calls out Alex’s behavior for involving magic throughout the day.

2 Alex’s Wish

The Russo’s family vacation during Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie is an obstacle for Alex, who has no interest in being there. However, when she is asked to come to a party, Alex determines that the trip could be fun if she could get away from family activities.

Yet, sneaking away does her no good, and instead, she is faced in a battle with her mother. An angry wish becomes literal when the Family Wand causes Theresa and Jerry to have never met. But, they are not the only ones who are affected by the wish. Alex and her brothers must undo the wish, or else they will lose their memories and eventually disappear as if they were never born.

1 Blaming And Ignoring Alex

After years, the Wizard Competition finally arrived, only for Harper, Zeke, and a Griffin to cause disaster. When the Russo siblings do not return with their friends by the end of their time out, they are disqualified. Jerry had made Alex, Justin, and Max promise that they would not let the competition come between them and hurt their relationship.

However, with magic taken from their family forever, that deal is broken. Justin blames Alex for losing their powers, and Max takes Justin’s side in the fight, leaving Alex alone. Harper, Jerry, and Theresa try to convince the siblings to work it out. As things got worse, Jerry revealed plans to shut down the substation.
