World of Warcraft Shadowlands Feast of Winter Veil 2020 Event Guide

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands players may be busy restoring order to the afterlife, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have time to celebrate seasonal holidays. Following the recent raid battles at Castle Nathria, heroes have earned a slight break before fighting the Jailer’s forces again. From December 16 to January 2, every player can participate in the Feast of Winter Veil event to earn some festive rewards.

In the universe’s lore, this Warcraft Christmas is based around its version of Santa, Greatfather Winter, who can take any form to leave snow and joy in his wake. Though the Shadowlands realms won’t be participating much in Winter Veil, players can return to Azeroth to experience this end-of-the-year celebration. While the 2020 event only has a few additions, there is plenty of returning fun like daily quests and opening presents.

Greatfather Winter

Greatfather Winter and his helpers have already set up Winter Veil decorations in Orgrimmar and Ironforge. Beneath the giant tree are tons of presents containing cosmetics such as this year’s new toy, but these can’t be opened until Christmas morning. Until then, players can ride on Greatfather Winter’s sleigh around the city, as well as step into the Giant Snow Globes to turn into a holiday gnome or goblin befitting the Winter Veil Spirit.

Additionally, Greatfather Pepe has finally made an in-game appearance perching on top of the nearby cart. Clicking Pepe provides a one-hour buff, causing him to accompany players on top of their head and ‘A Tiny Winter Hat,’ which gives the toy-summoned version of Pepe a chance to appear in his Greatfather costume. Note that interacting with Pepe requires a World of Warcraft character that is at least Level 50.

The Abominable Greench

Players who are at least Level 30 can accept the daily ‘You’re a Mean One…’ quest from the Smokeywood Pastures NPCs in Orgrimmar or Ironforge. Heroes must head to the Growless Cave in Hillsbrad Foothills to defeat the Abominable Greench and rescue Metzen the Reindeer. Anyone who succeeds will be rewarded a Stolen Present, which can contain Winter Veil toys from past years, holiday pets, or even rare weapon illusions such as Winter’s Grasp and the Flames of Ragnaros. A ‘Strange Snowman’ also offers the quest in Hillsbrad to those who forgot to pick it up in the cities.

Garrison Dailies

Once again, more Winter Veil dailies involving the mythical yeti Grumpus are available to characters that are at least Level 40 and have a Level 3 Draenor Garrison. Finishing all quests will give five Merry Supplies, which can be exchanged for various Garrison decorations or toys. Alternatively, players can also buy a Savage Gift which can contain Garrison Resources, Warlords of Draenor currency, or even a Minion of Grumpus rare mount.

Christmas Hats

Throughout many dungeons and raids, several enemies have dressed up for the holiday season. There are even reports that Torghast and Castle Nathria bosses like Sire Denathrius are wearing red or green Christmas hats. Players have a chance to loot these cosmetic helms on kill, so keep an eye out for any foes sporting a festive hat during the next few weeks.
