Xbox is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a three-month-long Xbox Game Pass line-up that includes games like Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5. The upcoming line-up has also been updated to reflect some newly announced Game Pass additions, such as a game of the year edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator. It appears Xbox Game Pass’ anniversary celebrations will coincide with the upcoming holiday season, which will likely see no shortage of games to play on all platforms, including the rivaling PS5.

Earlier this summer, Xbox confirmed Halo Infinite’s multiplayer would be free-to-play, making it a competitive title amongst the other big shooters, such as Call of Duty: Warzone. Although Warzone is a popular choice for those interested in online first-person shooters, Halo Infinite’s entire multiplayer is free-to-play. Combined with its availability through Xbox Game Pass, players can get one of 2021’s biggest titles for $15 USD at launch – a pretty significant steal, and one that will likely draw players to the title.

In a new Xbox Wire post, head of Xbox Game Studios Matt Booty outlined the company’s 20th anniversary festivities. Not only will the platform see new releases like Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5, but also some new additions to Xbox Game Pass, as well. Minecraft will come to Xbox Game Pass on PC on November 2 and Microsoft Flight Simulator: Game of the Year Edition will come as a free update to existing owners of the original game and Game Pass subscribers on November 18. The new update will add new aircraft, airports, air races, and DX12 support.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will also get exclusive monthly multiplayer perks in Halo Infinite after it launches. As of right now, PlayStation has no major titles launching this holiday season. The platform holder will probably rely on third-party titles like Call of Duty: Vanguard as the PS5 reaches its first birthday. This was not meant to be the case, but games like God of War: Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West were delayed to 2022.

Xbox’s anniversary and pre-holiday line-up probably wouldn’t be much to gawk at in a traditional year, but given only a year has passed since the launch of the Xbox Series X – and developers had to delay some games due to the pandemic – it’s still a solid collection of games. With all of these games available through Xbox Game Pass, gamers can look forward to a somewhat reasonably priced and entertaining holiday season.
