YuGiOh! Joeys 10 Strongest Warrior Monsters

Joey Wheeler might be known for his iconic Red-Eyes Black Dragon card, but the Yu-Gi-Oh! character runs a mostly warrior deck throughout the show’s run, using a large variety of different creatures.

While he isn’t known to be the best duelist of all time, he’s certainly got spunk, and he uses his warriors to take down his enemies one by one. While he’s got quite a few of the monsters in his deck, there’s no arguing that some of them are better than others. It should be noted that none of these cards would be considered “good” in the current metagame, but rather “good” in terms of Joey’s deck.

10 Alligator’s Sword

YuGiOh! Joeys 10 Strongest Warrior Monsters

Alligator’s Sword might be one of Joey’s most used cards (to the point that the flavor text on the card is even read by Joey himself, which is somewhat amazing), but that doesn’t mean that it is a good card. In fact, it’s actually quite bad. The card is a level-four non-effect monster with only 1500 attack points, making it pretty much useless in any deck. It also has no support to speak of, making this one of Joey’s weaker cards. Nevertheless, it still cracks the top 10 (which speaks volumes).

9 Axe Raider

Axe Raider is… better, to a degree. Still, though, it’s really the same story as Alligator’s Sword, it’s a non-effect level four monster that doesn’t have any support to speak of. Nevertheless, it does earn a higher spot on the list than its Alligator counterpart due to the fact that it has 1700 attack points, giving it at least a better chance of taking down other level four monsters. Once again, though, that doesn’t make it a good card. It’s just less bad.

8 Gearfried the Iron Knight

YuGiOh! Joeys 10 Strongest Warrior Monsters

Gearfried The Iron Knight has an absolutely useless effect that was wildly important in the anime. Very simply, any equip card attached to this card is destroyed, which is really not a good effect, but came in clutch to save Joey from Weevil’s Parasite Paracide that almost won the bug duelist the match. Either way, this card has better stats than the previous two entries on this list, which earns it a higher spot.

7 Rocket Warrior

YuGiOh! Joeys 10 Strongest Warrior Monsters

Rocket Warrior is a strange little card with a strange little effect. With 1500 attack points, this card can battle with any card it wants without fear of destruction or lost life points (during the player’s battle phase only), and if it attacks into a stronger monster than it, that monster loses 500 attack points.

It’s a novel effect, sure, but not really one that will change the game in any sort of meaningful way. 500 attack points is nothing in the grand scheme of things, but it was much more useful when this card was in Joey’s deck.

6 Blue Flame Swordsman

YuGiOh! Joeys 10 Strongest Warrior Monsters

While Joey might be more of a fan of the non-blue Flame Swordsman, this one was still used by the character, and it is much better than its fusion counterpart (even if the show has never acknowledged that it is a fusion monster at all). Blue Flame Swordsman has the same 1800 attack points as the original and can transfer its points to other warriors to power them up during the battle phase. In addition, when this card is destroyed, the player can remove it from play to bring another warrior back from the graveyard. Not bad at all.

5 Goblin Attack Force

YuGiOh! Joeys 10 Strongest Warrior Monsters

Goblin Attack Force is one of those level four monsters with more than 2000 attack points that comes with a catch. Once Goblin Attack Force attacks, it must change into defense position. With 2300 attack points and 0 defense points, this is a fair trade-off.

Generally, Goblin Attack Force will be destroyed the next turn, but that one attack can be very useful in the right situation, such as when Joey used it in the anime.

4 Maximum Six

YuGiOh! Joeys 10 Strongest Warrior Monsters

Maximum Six was used by Joey once during the Grand Championship arc, and it’s got an effect that was pretty strong, for Joey, that is. When Maximum Six is summoned, it rolls a six-sided die. Whatever is landed on is multiplied by 200 and added to Maximum Six’s attack points of 1900. Considering that Maximum Six requires one tribute, this isn’t a bad return on investment at all.

3 Marauding Captain

YuGiOh! Joeys 10 Strongest Warrior Monsters

Marauding Captain is an old-school Yu-Gi-Oh! card that comes with a few different abilities. Marauding Captain is the only warrior monster on the player’s side of the field that can be targeted with attacks, but that’s not the big one. when Marauding Captain is summoned, it can automatically summon one level four or lower monster from your hand. That is an amazing effect, and Joey should have used the captain more often than he did.

2 Gearfried The Swordmaster

YuGiOh! Joeys 10 Strongest Warrior Monsters

Gearfried the Swordmaster is the unleashed version of the previously mentioned knight, and it comes with a major attack boost to 2600 points, and a nifty upgraded ability, rather than destroying any card equipped to this one, Gearfried the Swordmaster can destroy one opposing monster when it is equipped with a card. That’s the definition of a glow up right there.

1 Gilford The Lightning

Gilford The Lightning is a unique card that can be summoned with an additional third tribute instead of the normal two. If summoned this way, Gilford destroys every monster on the opponent’s side of the field. While there are other cards that can do that with less cost, it’s still a novel effect. Gilford also has a strong 2800 attack points to its name, making it Joey’s strongest warrior monster.
