10 Best Action RPGs Like Persona 5 Strikers On Switch

The newest title in the Persona franchise, Persona 5 Strikers, combines the urban fantasy aesthetics and storyline of Persona 5 with the fast-paced, action RPG gameplay of the Dynasty Warriors series, bringing a completely new experience to fans of both. In exploring a dystopian city, Red and her talking sword will face a number of cybernetic enemies.

Both Persona 5 Strikers and Transistor are aesthetically bold, but they share common gameplay elements, too. The Persona system in Strikers allows players to stop the battle and plan their tactics when using Persona skills, and Transistor’s Turn() system works similarly, allowing players to program movements and attacks in the heat of battle.

8 Tales Of Vesperia: Definitive Edition

The long-running Tales series came to Switch with a rerelease of Tales Of Vesperia, an action RPG with a large cast of characters and a vibrant fantasy world for players to explore. Much like Persona 5 Strikers, the central gameplay involves exploring areas that are filled with enemies that trigger combat.

As with Strikers, players get the upper hand on enemies in Tales Of Vesperia by surprising them before entering combat. The game’s combat runs on the Linear Motion Battle System, placing players onto a fixed axis of motion, much like a fighting game, offering a new approach to action-based combat.

Combat is seamless and fast-paced, allowing players to take on enemies with a number of different strategies. The setting and story are much more traditional fantasy than the contemporary plot and aesthetics of Persona 5 Strikers, but both games combine strategic depth with action-packed combat.

6 Diablo III: Eternal Collection

One of the most influential classic action RPG series in gaming, Diablo’s loot-heavy gameplay will appeal to RPG fans who enjoy collecting items and optimizing loadouts. Diablo III: Eternal Collection brings the classic demon-hunting franchise to Switch, with all of the downloadable content included, including additional classes.

Although the top-down view is quite different, Diablo III resembles Persona 5 Strikers in its fast-paced combat and hordes of enemies. 4 Xenoblade Chronicles 2

The Xeno series has roots way back in the 1998 game Xenogears, although many modern players will be most familiar with the Xenoblade Chronicles sub-series, which includes this 2017 Switch title. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is notable for its vast open world and action-packed combat system that will be familiar to Persona 5 Strikers players.

Much like Persona 5 Strikers, Fire Emblem Warriors takes the frantic and tactical gameplay of the Dynasty Warriors series and combines it with another franchise’s characters and setting. In this case, that franchise is Fire Emblem, a classic series with plenty of characters to add to the action.

Fire Emblem Warriors has players taking on fast-paced, large-scale battles with the intricate and complex strategies of a Fire Emblem title, including the series’ signature Weapon Triangle and character bonding mechanics. Fans of Persona 5 Strikers will be intrigued by the game’s unique combination of elements from two very different RPGs.

2 Monster Hunter Rise

The Monster Hunter series, much like the Persona series, has been known to gamers for many years as a complex franchise that players can easily sink hundreds of hours into. So, fans looking for an action experience like Persona 5 Strikers with a bit more depth and length should check out the critically acclaimed Monster Hunter Rise.

The latest entry in the series, Rise features many hallmarks of the series’ gameplay, including, of course, lengthy fights against enormous, dangerous monsters. A survival mode called Rampage also adds to the action-packed gameplay, seeing players facing a siege of monstrous attackers and surviving for as long as possible.

1 Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity

A part of the Dynasty Warriors family of games, Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity brings players into the world of Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild years before the events of that game. The gameplay is split between fast-paced tactical battles and puzzle-solving inspired by the Zelda franchise.

Much like Persona 5 Strikers, Age Of Calamity turns a well-loved RPG franchise into a fast-paced frenzy of hack-and-slash action with familiar characters and even familiar gameplay elements mixed in. This game, arguably, does for Zelda fans what Strikers does for fans of Persona.
