It’s hard to imagine that Kevin Hart has appeared in 45 movies in the last 20 years. The hardworking actor and standup comedian got his first movie role in 2002’s Paper Soldiers. However, it wasn’t until the early 2010s that he became a megastar. Since then, he has never looked back.

Back in 2015, he was named as one the 100 Most Influential People In The World by Time Magazine. Hart has also been nominated for 49 film and comedy awards in total from different organizations. But what are his best ever movies? According to Rotten Tomatoes, the following tower above the rest.

10 Think Like A Man (2012) – 54%

Adapted from Steve Harvey’s non-fiction book of a similar name, the movie was quite popular when it was released. This was largely due to the ensemble cast which included star names such as featuring Taraji P. Henson, Michael Ealy, Meagan Good, Regina Hall, Terrence J, and Gabrielle Union.

The movie follows four men whose love lives become complicating after the women they are pursuing purchase Steve Harvey’s book and use the advice in it to make themselves more challenging to men. Kevin Hart plays a divorced man called Cedric.

9 The Secret Life of Pets 2 (2019) – 60%

Sequels always underperform if the first movie was too good and such was the case here. Unlike the first film which was a huge commercial success, The Secret Life Of Pets 2 failed to capture audiences in the same way. After his sexual misconduct scandal, Louis CK was also replaced by Patton Oswalt in the voice-over role for the dog Jack.

Kevin Hart reprised his role as the rabbit Snowball and despite having plenty of hilarious one-liners, the poor plot made his good performance count for nothing. Critics also lamented that the movie didn’t have enough witty elements to be appealing to anyone above 10-years-old. Hopefully, the third movie will be as good as the first one.

8 The Five-Year Engagement (2012) – 63%

Here, Kevin Hart was a supporting character, playing a colleague of psychologist Violet Barnes. In the movie, a chef named Tom falls in love with Violet. After a year, he proposes to her and a wedding date is set. However, a couple of work-related issues make them postpone their wedding and threaten to destroy their relationship.

The movie wasn’t a commercial success as it broke even by only a tiny margin. Critical reception was also average. However, after being released on BluRay it went on to gain popularity. It’s now considered one of the best romantic comedies of the past decade.

7 About Last Night (2014) – 69%

This romantic comedy follows Bernie (Kevin Hart) and Joan (Regina Hall) who have a complicated relationship. Meanwhile, Bernie’s friend Danny (Michael Ealy) is also having a complicated relationship with a woman named Debbie after having a one night stand.

About Last Night was released on Valentine’s Day 2014 and was well-received. The movie is a remake of a 1985 film of the same name. The original film is set in Chicago but the remake is set in Los Angeles. The movie’s main soundtrack was composed by John Legend.

6 Central Intelligence (2016) – 71%

In the movie, Bob (Dwayne Johnson) gets bullied as a teenager in high school but fate is kind to him as an adult. He grows to be a skilled CIA agent. He then comes back home for a high school reunion but he is actually secretly on a mission. Bob then seeks the help of the former high school cool kid Calvin (Kevin Hart).

Calvin is now an accountant and he misses the good old days when he was popular. Soon, Bob drags Calvin into a world of espionage involving shootouts, chases and all kinds of drama that he never thought he’d find himself in. The film stellar cast also includes Jason Bateman and Aaron Paul.

5 The Secret Life of Pets (2016) – 73%

A hilarious animated comedy that explores the fictional lives that pets lead after their owners leave home during the day. Kevin Hart plays a white rabbit called Snowball. The rabbit Snowball also happens to be the cult leader of a group of sewer animals called “The Flushed Pets. “

These are animals who came together and decided to live in the sewers because their human owners mistreated them. The movie was a huge commercial success, grossing $875.5 million globally. It’s now the 17th highest-grossing animated film of all time.

4 Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) – 76%

This is definitely one of the best collaborations between Kevin Hart and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. In Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle, a group of high-school kids discover an old generation game console. In it, there is a game called Jumanji. Before they know it, the game sucks them into its jungle setting and transforms their bodies.

To return to the real world, they have to complete a series of wild adventures. Hart plays Anthony “Fridge” Johnson and Franklin “Mouse” Finbar. He starts out as a high school football player but is later transformed into a hilarious zoologist.

3 This Is The End (2013) – 83%

In This Is The End, Seth Rogen comedy masterpiece, Kevin Hart plays himself. The movie revolves around six buddies who get trapped inside a Los Angeles house after the city is hit with a series of strange catastrophes. Limited supplies and tensions put a strain on the once-solid relationship between the friends. Eventually, they are forced to go outside and confront the impending doom.

The film did quite well, finishing second behind Man Of Steel on its opening weekend. Though it was rated R by the Motion Picture Association Of America, it performed well at the box office too. It made $126 million worldwide against a budget of $36 million.

2 Top Five (2014) – 86%

After Kevin Hart featured Chris Rock in his comedy series, the Real Husbands Of Hollywood, Rock returned the favor by featuring Hart in his critically acclaimed movie Top Five. Rock wrote, directed and starred in the movie. What happened to delegation sir?

In the movie, Hart played Charles, a well-educated agent for comedian and movie star Andre (Chris Rock). Other popular comedians like Adam Sandler, Jerry Seinfeld, Tracy Morgan, Jb Smoove and Cedric The Entertainer also have cameo roles in the movie.

1 Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie (2017) – 88%

Hart voices George Beard, a young prankster at Jerome Horwitz Elementary School who also happens to be the best friend of Harold Hutchins. In the movie, the two friends hypnotize their strict principal and make him think he is a superhero called Captain Underpants.

With a budget of only $38 million, Captain Underpants was the least costly animated movie ever made by Dreamworks. Together with The Emoji Movie, the film also became one of the first two Hollywood productions to be screened in Saudi Arabia in 35 years after the country’s cinema ban was abolished.
