Whether someone is getting married, forgetting an ex, or using a fake ID to party, the actors bring these characters to life through unforgettable performances. They may not be some of the best movie performances in film, but here are the best performances in Judd Apatow comedies, according to IMDb.

10 Christopher Mintz-Plasse In Superbad (2007): 7.6

There might be a three-way tie when it comes to the best performance in Superbad. Not only do we get a young Jonah Hill and Michael Cera, but we also get Christopher Mintz-Plasse, who plays Fogell, otherwise known on his Hawaiian Driver’s license as the super memorable “McLovin.” Christoper Mintz-Plasse has been in other cool projects since Superbad, but his role as Fogell/McLovin is probably his fans’ most favorite character.

There are characters and then there are main characters. A lot can happen in a Judd Apatow film when he casts a comedian as the main protagonist.

9 Will Ferrell In Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy (2004): 7.2

No one can forget Will Ferrell in the Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. Ferrell owns the role of news anchor and the comedic timing is spot on, bringing the surprising and sometimes dramatic way television news and newscasters share stories in over-the-top ways. This movie was such a hit that they filmed a part two, which was almost as good, if not better than the first one.

Scott, played by Pete Davidson and based on Pete Davidson, is healing from the loss of his father. The film is a touching comedy based on the story of a young man named Scott, who’s firefighter father dies while on duty. For those that have followed Pete Davidson’s career, knows his father, who was a firefighter during 9/11, which makes Pete’s performance all the more touching.

The King Of Staten Island is one of those movies that has a quirky cast of characters, and this is one of those movies where a sequel could be really enjoyable. A spin-off film could be funny or feel good.

7 Russell Brand In Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008): 7.1

Jason Segel and Mila Kunis should get a tie for their roles in Forgetting Sarah Marshall because both of them give unforgettable performances. Not only is Jason Segel dopey but still somehow likable, Mila Kunis is her usual calm self. These two look like they have fun together on screen, which makes watching them fun for viewers. The cast also includes Kristen Bell, who plays the unforgettable Sarah Marshall, but the top performance has to go to Russell Brand, who plays the cringeworthy Aldous Snow.

Anytime Russell Brand comes into the scene his performance steals the show. His antics are not only enjoyable to watch, but no one else could play that character as well as he does.

6 Steve Carell In The 40 Year Old Virgin (2005): 7.1

Steve Carell is one of the most lovable actors on the planet. Not only does Carell’s role in The Office as Michael Scott have a following, but also when he played Andy, a middle-aged man who stayed a virgin, in the comedic masterpiece The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Steve’s on-screen lovability shot up tenfold.

Let’s face it, if Andy was played by any other actor, it wouldn’t be the same. Carell captures our hearts as he’s on his mission to find a partner.

5 Seth Rogen In Knocked Up (2007): 6.9

Seth Rogen has had some significant movie roles and some not-so-significant movie roles, but overall, Rogen is enjoyable to watch and delightfully consistent as a comedic actor.

In Knocked Up, Seth Rogen plays Ben Stone, an average guy who gets a woman, played by Katherine Heigl, pregnant. Rogen goes from clumsy to lovable in this lighthearted movie about parenting and accepting responsibilities.

4 James Franco In Pineapple Express (2008): 6.9

Any movie that casts Seth Rogen and James Franco will most likely become an instant classic, especially an action-based comedy like Pineapple Express, which was one of the pair’s first on-screen magical moments.

This comedy has it all, crime, mystery, a car chase, and two friends figuring out how to stay chill while getting out of a serious mess. Judd Apatow hit it out of the park when he cast for this project.

3 Adam Scott In Step Brothers (2008): 6.9

One of the most bizarre comedies to ever exist, Step Brothers, tells the story about two very stunted men, whose older parents go on to get married. Of all the incredible female comedians to grace the movie Bridesmaids, a fan favorite that stands out among the rest is Melissa McCarthy. Kristen Wiig plays the lead, but Melissa McCarthy plays Megan, a character Judd Apatow destined to be a total trainwreck.

She burbs, she crude, rude, and embarrassing, but she does it all while remaining hilarious and genuinely loveable. Not only is she the kind of friend every girl wants, but every woman needs.

1 Michael Clarke Duncan In Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby (2006): 6.6

It’s hard to recognize just one actor from Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby, but the ward should go to Michael Clarke Duncan. Not only is he someone people could look forward to seeing on-screen, but his voice and charm could steal the scene. \

The scene where he tells Ricky he can walk and is in fact not paralyzed is one of the funniest scenes in the movie. Michael Clarke Duncan’s character makes for a passionate friend, and his acting is fierce.
