There is no denying that between the buggy nature of the game combined with the lack of content in the online mode, Marvel’s Avengers had a rough launch. But thanks to a massive amount of updates, overhauls, and free content addons, the game is in a much better state now than it was upon release.

One thing about the game that was never critiqued from the start was the Reassembled campaign and DLC stories. It created a distinct new Marvel universe that felt lived in, established its own unique versions of the familiar Avengers characters that never copied the MCU, and even offered some impactful quotes from the heroes.

11 “Shut Up!” — Hulk.

Some villains feel the need to run their mouths while fighting the hero. Abomination is no different as he constantly mocks and taunts the Hulk after coming out of hiding. When Hulk finally gets the upper hand on Abomination, he uses the gamma generator as a weapon.

As he keeps slamming Abomination with the device, Hulk repeats the words, “Shut up!” Each time he gets louder and more intense, showcasing a proper representation of Hulk’s ferocity and his hatred for Abomination, one of the Hulk’s most famous villains.

10 “Yeah, Of Course You Do.” — Iron Man.

Tony Stark is voiced by popular voice actor Nolan North who never attempts to replicate Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal. Instead, Nolan’s version is more mature and akin to a cool uncle figure for Kamala Khan. This is presented as its best when Tony discovers Kamala in her handmade superhero costume.

Kamala being the shy fangirl that she is, says that she looks ridiculous leading to a quick response from Tony, “Yeah, of course you do.” At first, Kamala takes that the wrong way leading to Tony saying, “No, no, no, no, no. We all do. It’s part of the job.” Tony and Kamala then do a bit of bonding when Tony teaches her to be more confident in the new outfit while mocking other costumes such as Thor’s and Hulk’s.

9 “For What It’s Worth, I Thought That Was Pretty Brave.” — Captain America.

Kamala Khan is one of the best heroes in the game, being a healthy representation of a fangirl. When other kids mock and belittle her for this during A-Day, she instantly quotes Captain America’s famous speech featuring the line, “No. You move.” She manages to make the bullies back off.

Sadly, the comics she’s trying to collect are gone. At least until a familiar face hands her the comics and comments, “For what it’s worth, I thought that was really brave.” A perfect introduction to Captain America who instantly bonds with Kamala in a cute scene in which they discuss Kamala’s fan fiction. Seeing Kamala’s eyes brighten up and Cap being so down to Earth instantly makes them both likable.

8 “You’re Welcome.” — Thor.

Thor has the smallest role in the story but Crystal Dynamics made up for that by giving him show-stealing moments. For example, when AIM causes the Helicarrier to plummet towards a city, Thor makes quite the entrance back into the story after the events of A-Day.

Thor saves a reporter from being killed, revealing the God Of Thunder in his Donald Blake civilian attire. He simply looks to the reporter who had been besmirching the Avengers and coyly says, “You’re welcome.” Thor then flies off to join the fight.

7 “Every Hero Has To Start Somewhere.” — Thor.

When Kamala meets Thor during the A-Day event, Thor puts on his usual cocky attitude as the mighty God of Thunder. He boasts about how his powers are more impressive than Iron Man’s tech but Kamala surprises him with some wise words, “Every hero has to start somewhere.”

This line makes a return when Thor reunites with the Avengers aboard the Helicarrier. When he sees Kamala again, he instantly recognizes her and says, “Every hero has to start somewhere.” It shocks Kamala that an immortal God remembers their encounter, showcasing that this version of Thor is much more humble.

6 “Avengers Assemble.” — Captain America.

At the start of the climax when the fully reunited Avengers get ready to face MODOK. As they pose before the Quinjet, Kamala asks, “Aren’t you going to say the thing?” Cap then asks what she’s referring to so she continues, “You know. Avengers assemble.” She says in a cute imitation of Captain America. Iron Man then claims that they don’t actually say that.

However, if the player gets 100% in the Reassembled campaign, they are treated to a secret ending where Kamala is gladly accepted as an Avenger. Captain America gives a big speech about how they need to work together which ends with, “Avengers… assemble.” Making for a solid way to end the Avengers’ arc in Reassembled.

5 “I Thought I Was Mentoring You.” — Bruce Banner.

Bruce Banner and Hulk are given a more essential role, being the Avenger who takes on Kamala as their apprentice. Kamala and Bruce’s mentor/student relationship blossoms across the Reassembled campaign, creating a genuine friendship that allows them both to grow.

Kamala brings back Bruce from a dark place, giving him a reason to be a hero again. This friendship is topped off perfectly after they defeat MODOK. Bruce tells Kamala, “All this time, I thought I was mentoring you. I’d given up. And I guess what I’m trying to say is thank you.” The moment brings their personal arc full-circle, showing how important Kamala has become to Bruce.

4 “It Belongs To Wakanda!” — Black Panther.

Determined to get his revenge and take all the vibranium for himself, Ulysses Klaue has a big confrontation with Black Panther. Klaue claims that vibranium doesn’t belong to T’Challa and that he will gladly kill him to get it.

T’Challa gives the best response, taking on his mortal enemy: “You are right. Vibranium does not belong to me.” He dishes out a surprise attack, knocking Klaue against a railing before finishing with, “It belongs to Wakanda!” Sequences like this are one of many reasons why players should return for the War for Wakanda expansion.

3 “The Only One Left To Convince Is Yourself.” — Black Widow.

The Avengers begin to reunite thanks to Natasha Romanoff’s efforts. As the anonymous Tiny Dancer and spending years undercover inside AIM, she put all the pieces together that sent Kamala on her journey to bring back the team. After Kamala is captured by AIM, Black Widow finally reveals herself as the spy and frees both Kamala and the Inhumans.

Kamala is disheartened, believing she is not a hero like the others but Natasha says differently, telling her, “Look, kid, you’re already a hero. The only one left to convince is yourself.” Natasha’s words impact Kamala and they even carry into the climax when Kamala uses them to empower herself enough to defeat MODOK.

2 “What’s The Downside?” — Old Man Hawkeye.

Giacomo Gianniotti shines brightly as Clint Barton AKA Hawkeye in the Future Imperfect campaign. Old Man Hawkeye was the stronger side of the performance, portraying a beaten hero with guilt weighing down his heart. This is why it was satisfying to see Old Man Hawkeye return to defeat Scientist Supreme.

In one of the many boss fights in Marvel’s Avengers, Old Man Hawkeye appears from the future to tackle Monica, making them both fall into the void created by the cube. Monica tries to make him stop by saying that he’ll kill them both and all Old Man Hawkeye says in response before their shared death is, “What’s the downside?” finally ending his pain while saving the universe.

1 “Good Isn’t A Thing You Are. It’s A Thing You Do.” — Ms. Marvel.

From the beginning, Kamala was told by her father Yusef, “Good isn’t a thing you are. It’s a thing you do.” This is the most important line in the story as Kamala grows up and goes on her journey to bring the Avengers back.

When the Avengers start fighting each other and disband yet again, Kamala Khan has her best moment when she gives a speech about what the Avengers means to her and the world, repeating her father’s line, “Good isn’t a thing you are. It’s a thing you do.” This brings everyone back and then, she says the line yet again when she defeats MODOK in her embiggened form.
