Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has gained a lot of fans and attention since its premiere in 2019. The original storyline, the relatable characters, the breathtaking animation, and the music choices all combine to it one of the best modern Shonen anime. Unlike other anime of the same genre, Demon Slayer isn’t afraid to break the Shonen tropes and keep their fans invested. The anime also explores various themes such as death, perseverance, hope, and resilience, keeping viewers engaged.

Demon Slayer has a simple premise: the protagonist, Tanjiro Kamado, becomes a demon slayer to save his sister and avenge his family. Despite its simplicity, the anime is well-executed and provides fans with many amazing scenes filled with emotions, action and beautiful imagery. It’s hard to pick just a few, but these are some of the best so far.SPOILER ALERT

10 Nezuko Still Has Some Humanity

In the first episode of Demon Slayer, fans witness a heartbreaking, shocking moment when the protagonist, Tanjiro, arrives home to find his entire family slaughtered by a demon — except for his sister, Nezuko. Fans find out that Nezuko has become a demon, and just as she is about to attack her brother, Tomioka, Water Pillar of the Demon Slayer Corps, steps in to intervene. In a twist, fans discover that Nezuko is unlike other demons when she protects her brother from the slayer.

This scene is packed with emotion and action as Tanjiro tries to save his sister from getting killed. It also serves as a defining moment in Tanjiro and Nezuko’s lives as they both embark on a journey with a common goal.

9 Tanjiro Meets Muzan

When Tanjiro learns of the demon Muzan Kibutsuji, who killed his family and turned Nezuko, he makes it his life purpose to find him. He wants him to turn his sister back into a human and then kill the demon. He eventually manages to sniff him out while on a mission in Asakusa, Tokyo. In another shocking twist, just as he is about to unsheath his Nichirin Blade, he discovers that Muzan has a human family. Tanjiro freezes into place, and while he is trying to process what is happening, Muzan subtly turns a random person walking by into a demon to distract him.

The antagonist’s reveal takes place sooner than fans expected, but it remains satisfying all the same. Fans could finally put a face to a name and get an idea of how horrifying his abilities really are. Fans also got excited at the idea that Muzan saw Tanjiro as a threat.

8 Zenitsu Protects The Box

In Episode 13 of the anime series, Zenitsu finally makes it out of the forsaken rotating house and finds himself facing Inosuke, another slayer who wears a boar head. Inosuke, smelling the scent of a demon coming from Tanjiro’s box, charges at it. Zenitsu stops him and is willing to sacrifice himself for it, letting Inosuke beat him up to protect it.

This scene is powerful in its own way. Zenitsu knows Tanjiro is carrying a demon, something that is against the rules, but he trusts his newfound friend. The scene brings the character some depth and shows fans that he can be a hero, despite his fear of demons.

7 Tanjiro’s Determination To Stay Awake

In the movie Mugen Train, Tanjiro faces the Lower Rank One demon, Emnu. Tanjiro falls into a deep sleep by Emnu’s Blood Demon Art: Whispers of Forced Unconscious Hypnosis. He enters a dream state where his family is still alive, but he knows it is fake.

To escape, instead of renouncing his greatest desires as is common when it comes to this concept, he repeatedly kills himself until he can stay awake. Fans love that this scene takes a different approach to this idea, and find Tanjiro’s determination inspiring.

6 Meeting The Hashira

In Episode 22 of the first season, Tanjiro finally meets all the Hashira. He is on trial for protecting a demon – his sister Nezuko, and must prove to them that she isn’t dangerous.

Although he doesn’t meet them under great circumstances, fans were excited to see the whole team. The Harisha consists of many interesting characters that fans can’t wait to find more about later. The scene also offered a bittersweet moment when once again Nezuko proved to be on their side.

5 Zenitsu’s Alter Ego

For most of the anime, Zenitsu is a coward. He easily cries, and he runs away or faints whenever a demon is near. In episode 12 of the first season, though, fans learn that Zenitsu has an alter ego. He faints while trapped inside a demon-possessed house with a child named Shoichi. In his dormant state, he gets back up and unleashes a Thunder Breathing technique. He uses the First Form: Thunderclap and Flash to kill the demon before waking up clueless about what just transpired.

This scene reveals that there’s more to Zenitsu than what fans believed at first. He’s not only providing fans with some comic relief, but he shows that he has immense potential for growth and character development.

4 Muzan’s New Identity

The second time fans see Muzan in the anime is at the very end of the first season. He appears as a woman to hide from Tanjiro and calls a meeting of the lower ranks. Then he proceeds to dispose of those he deems useless to him, but keeps one alive. The remaining demon is given some of Muzan’s blood and sent to kill an Hashira, and if he gets the chance, Tanjiro as well. This event leads the story to the movie Mugen Train.

This scene shows fans just how terrifying Muzan can be, offering a glimpse of his abilities and power. He can read minds, control demons, transform his hand into a weird slug-like creature that eats demons, and so much more. Muzan is not only dangerous, but proves to be an exciting character.

3 Rengoku’s Last Fight

In this scene, fans get to see more of the Flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku, as he is tasked with a mission on the Mugen Train alongside Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Nezuko and Inosuke. His final fight against the demon Akaza was a thrilling and emotional experience that kept fans on their toes.

His Fire Breathing Techniques were beautifully animated, and the soundtrack was perfect. Although his appearance in the series was, he managed to win the heart of many fans.

2 Hone It To The Utmost Perfection

In episode 22, Zenitsu gets bitten by a spider, and as soon as he learns about his future transformation, he faints again. His alter ego “wakes up,” takes over, and with the words of wisdom his grandfather taught him, he unleashes his Thunder Breathing First Form: Thunderclap and Flash and beheads the demon.

This great scene shows that even though Zenitsu only knows one attack, he has mastered it to the point of being unstoppable (well, at least for now), which is an exciting moment in itself.

1 Tanjiro & Nezuko Versus Rui

One of the best scenes to date is this fight between the siblings and Rui, the spider demon who’s a member of the Twelve Kizuki. Rui wants a family, and when he sees the bond Nezuko has with Tanjiro, he gets envious. He tries to take Nezuki away and claim himself as her big brother, but Tanjiro won’t go down without a fight.

In this fantastic scene, fans get to see Tanjiro use his Water Breathing Tenth Form: Constant Flux, which forms a dragon that manages to cut through some of Rui’s thread. When the attack is not enough, the Hinokami Kagura Dance allows Tanjiro to transform his Water technique into flames. As for Nezuko, viewers finally got to see her use a Demon Art: the Exploding Blood technique, which was amazing to witness. The whole animation of the fight scene was spectacular, and the music only enhanced the epicness of the moment. The scene left fans eager to see more of the siblings’ potential.
