Thanos, the Mad Titan, has a particular look in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and these ten cosplayers put a mad spin on his costume.

Thanos has dominated the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a number of years now. The formidable purple-faced villain, most recently seen in Avengers: End Game, has also been the focus of many cosplay costumes during that time.

Thanos has several different looks, which vary from movie to movie. His comic book counterpart also has his own unique style. This list explores several different interpretations of everyone’s favorite finger snapper; from gender-bending creations to some unique interpretations and mashups. We also see some good old-fashioned foam board armor, that no cosplay list would be complete without.

Here are our top ten Thanos cosplays, ranked.

10 Cholo Thanos By Battjuice

Is this a stunning and detailed authentic Thanos cosplay? No. Is it an incredibly amusing cosplay? Absolutely.

This was highlighted in Mike Shouts, when he gave a little history to the outfit. This outfit was created and worn by cosplayer Battjuice. He calls this Cholo Thanos and the best part is his infinity Chancia. For those, like myself, who don’t recognize the word, a chancia is a spanish word and is used to refer to a slipper. Most commonly one which was used to punish naughty children.

While he won’t be winning any prizes for authenticity, the sense of humor is what makes this a fantastic Thanos cosplay.

9 Thanos By Contagious Costuming

A unique gender bent Thanos, this cosplay is a stylish take on the Marvel villain made by Contagious Costuming. The jacket is made from stretch denim with a vinyl trim and the gloves are leather, with resin gems.

While this lacks the bulk of foam crafted cosplays, it isn’t harmed by its simplicity. Every core part of the outfit is there, the neck, gloves and boots. The slimline look gives the costume a feel more in line with the comic book version of Thanos, which you can see she’s drawn inspiration from.

8 Thanos By Immnamna

This cosplay was created by Immnamna, who has posted a timeline of his build over on Facebook. It’s fascinating to see it all come together, down to the fully lit stones in his infinity gauntlet. The details in the crafting process are incredible and this costume has so many parts.

The only thing letting it down is the tiny feet, which you can see on his gallery images. I know a man’s got to walk but those tiny gold boots just feel out of place with the rest of the outfit. I’d love to see a version with larger shoes.

7 Thanos By Briny Cosplay

Unfortunately there is no credit for this cosplay, except a photo credit for Briny Cosplay. All we know is that it was taken at a convention in 2018. I’d love to know who came up with the idea, as well as who’s hiding inside.

This unique take uses balloons to build Thanos, complete with armor and boots. Whoever created this deserves a prize for originality. I feel like my day has been enhanced just by looking at this crazy photo. I can’t stop staring at that inflatable infinity gauntlet.

6 Thanos By Cinema Makeup School

This incredibly detailed Thanos cosplay was a group effort by the Cinema Makeup School. The makeup was by Lee Joyner and the armor by Courtney Vanderpool and Amanda McGowan. Suit and application was by Karen Midge Ordonez. Finally Mick Ignis is the cosplayer.

This cosplay really captures the essence of Thanos and his grand stature. You can really see the amount of work that has gone into it. The helmet is my favoruite part, combined with the incredible make up. It’s just a shame we can’t see the infinity gauntlet.

5 Thanos And Little Gamora By Kino Kaoru

This image is of Kino Kaoru and his daughter at Asia POP Comiccon. The two are cosplaying as Thanos and Little Gamora and it’s heart meltingly cute. In a post on a Replica Prop forum Kaoru says that him and his wife made the costumes from foam and leatherette while the face was 3D printed.

The gauntlet is a replica but he’s done such a stunning job on the armor that it matches perfectly. Also his daughter looks fantastic. I love a good matching costume and this one is perfection.

4 Thanos By Prizmatec

This Thanos cosplay is based on the Guardians Of The Galaxy version of Thanos. It was made by Prizmatec Cosplay back in 2016 and was handmade from foam, cardboard and polystyrene. There are some incredible photos of the construction over on the cosplayers Facebook page.

My favorite detail on this is the fact then appear to have cast a full face mask which looks exactly like the man himself. They also used hulk hands, which have been sprayed purple, so this Thanos is quite literally part Avenger.

3 Grimos By Bananasteve Cosplay

This places highly on my list for being both a genius idea and a sneaky reference to Infinity War. The photo came from cosplayamerica over on Twitter and is posted with a brief story, which was expanded upon by Funko. It seems that the idea was inspired by the thought of Thanos looking like Grimace and completed when Starlord called Thanos Grimos in the movie.

The simple but genius idea was born and we all get to behold the glory that is the infinity gauntlet of chicken nuggets. This is my favorite crazy take on Thanos. Truly inspired.

2 Thanos By Cecilosaurus

I found a few gender bending Thanos cosplays but this one is hands down the best I’ve seen. I came across it on Celiosaurus’s Twitter account but there are more photos over on Instagram.

The detail on this costume is outstanding. You can also see how she’s carefully worked the different parts of the male costume and adjusted them to fit her shape. The result is a cosplay outfit which is clearly identifiable as Thanos and looks stunning. Also can we just admire that Infinity Gauntlet? A truly spectacular job.

1 Thanos By Graceandshinephoto and champumagic

This Thanos gains extra points for finding a Black Panther cosplayer who has a costume which is as detailed and elaborate as his own. Not an easy task when the standard is so high.

While the cosplayers names are unknown, the photo was taken by Bokephi316 at Wondercon 2019. I’m glad they shared. Every aspect of this costume is perfectly crafted. It looks like they just rocked up on a movie set and stole the armor. Either that or Josh Brolin has a new hobby, turning up at conventions in full costume.
