A “himbo” can be defined as a man who is attractive, amiable—and a little bit stupid. These qualities can vary in intensity, but, overall, a proper himbo must exhibit them in some substantial form either through his bumbling kindness or a heroic set of muscles.

It’s no wonder, then, that there’s a whole slew of himbos to be had within the world of gaming. The amount of big, strong men present in video games is absurdly high, and quite a few of them happen to be total sweet dummies, to boot! These are some of the best himbos to meet in video games, ranging from a variety of different genres.

10 Farkas

Most characters in Skyrim have at least one significant line that is unique to them, and Farkas’ says it all. “Some people don’t think I’m smart. Those people get my fist. But you, I like.” He’s kind of a meathead, and he knows it, but he also knows how to show his affection to those who show it back.

In a game as grey and rugged as Skyrim, little details like these stand out. Anyone who remembers when the game first came out must surely remember how enthusiastic many players were about Farkas, specifically as a romance option. They considered him to be one of the only attractive male characters in Skyrim, as well as one of the more likable ones in general.

9 Darien Gautier

Also from the Elder Scrolls family, Breton hunk Darien Gautier is quite ostensibly one of the most important heroes in the entirety of Elder Scrolls Online. He’s charming, always rides up in the nick of time, and he has a weakness for women—such a weakness, he can’t help but flirt even in the most absurd moments of the game.

Perhaps it would be rude to call Darien a little lazy in his methods, but there’s no evidence to the contrary that shows he’s any sharper than he lets on. He’s tough, heroic, and handsome enough to get what he wants, and that’s enough to make him Meridia’s chosen champion. You do you, Darien.

8 Leon

From Pokemon Sword and Shield, the Galar region’s champion is an idealistic, enthusiastic, and generous young man with lovely purple hair and magnetic golden eyes. He’s also horrible at even the most basic directional tasks, lacks the skills to determine who’s a friend or foe, and seems to have trouble dressing, judging from his horribly mismatched outfit. In short, he’s the ideal himbo.

Leon doesn’t need to be super smart in order to be a good champion. He’s got all the right qualities; he’s kind, cares about the people of Galar, and he’s strong enough to be champion at all. Might as well leave the research to Sonia, right?

7 Sam

To clarify, a himbo must be kind as well as attractive. Therefore, while some might consider the dull-witted Alex to be Stardew Valley’s resident himbo, he’s simply too judgmental for the job. Sam, however, is as witty as a bag of rocks, with a winning smile and attitude.

Sam truly has no problems with anyone in the town and is able to connect with pretty much everyone, from the antisocial goth Sebastian to the mousey schoolteacher Penny. He just wants to skateboard and make music, with no grand ambitions otherwise, and he is happy to loaf around the house doing nothing. He can’t even be bothered to complete the easiest quests in Stardew Valley, but that’s part of his himbo charm.

As far as Zelda himbos go, Prince Sidon was tied very closely with Groose but ultimately won because he is, in fact, the nicer guy. A himbo must be strong and amiable, but he must also take care not to fall into the “mean jock” category, which is basically Groose’s entire character design for most of Skyward Sword.

Sidon, meanwhile, is a beefcake with standards, going out of his way to help Link in his journey and making sure to flex all the while. Surely he inherited his kindness from his dear sister, Mipha, a central character in Breath of the Wild. While he is likely “smarter” than Groose, he’s earnest to a fault, and it was only through sheer luck that the random Hylian he recruited happened to be Link.

5 Alistair Theirin

As the poster boy of the Dragon Age series, prince-to-be Alistair is one of the most popular romanceable characters in gaming history. He’s charming, awkwardly funny, and, by 2009 video game standards, quite a handsome young man! The himbo-ish cherry on top is that he thinks almost exclusively with his heart and gut.

Unfortunately, that’s a bit of a sore spot for him, that others tend to think he’s stupid. Morrigan in particular tends to get in spats with him over his intelligence. He really isn’t all that dull, and is actually quite insightful when it counts. It’s more that he relies so much on his emotional intelligence, he sometimes approaches situations with absolutely zero critical-thinking skills, such as falling for the Sloth demon’s trap in the Fade.

4 Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd

Before Fire Emblem: Three Houses dropped, most fans anticipated that Dimitri would be a very bland and uninspired character. In a twist of irony, he’s become one of the most beloved romance options in the entire franchise, with an attractive design, a phenomenal character arc, and the disposition of a golden retriever.

Ultimately, his himbo status is solidified by his body and personality, not necessarily his intelligence. Dimitri is built like Stonehenge, which makes him stand out among his peers, and he’s just so innocent at heart that it’s hard not to feel a little worried about his capabilities as a king.

3 Dandelion (Jaskier)

Many lady gamers tend to call Geralt of Rivia a himbo, but, strictly speaking, he’s just too smart in the games! Perhaps the smoldering Geralt of the Witcher Netflix series could be such a himbo, but, as far as the game series goes, his foolhardy companion Dandelion is a much surer bet. Just look at how Dandelion is portrayed in cosplay!

No matter what he does, Dandelion can’t seem to not get into trouble wherever he goes. He’s always philandering with women who are either married or will surely come after him, and he never seems to be a step ahead of his schemes. He’s good-looking enough, sure, and talented to boot, but, as far as common sense goes, he’s a just a silly himbo through and through.

2 Arthur Morgan

Just because Arthur is a total himbo does not mean he’s an idiot. Many characters in Red Dead Redemption 2 try to make Arthur seem like an idiot, but, while he is, very much, a violent outlaw, he’s also a gentle soul who enjoys sketching baby animals, taking Jack fishing, and singing at the campfire.

Indeed, Arthur is a complex man, so, in his case, calling him a himbo is more of a compliment than anything else. He’s thick-bodied and incredibly dangerous, yet, at heart, he’s a sweet man who just wants to get away from it all. It’s really his combined beefiness and tenderness that make him the himbo he is.
