Batman is not the best man for the job. In fact, many of Marvel’s best and brightest could do better than Batman at cleaning up Gotham.

Gotham City is the most dangerous city in the DC Universe and possibly all of comics. The city has more costumed criminals per capita than just about any other and even Batman, one of the greatest heroes ever, can’t always keep up with everything the city throws at him. The costumed villains are only the beginning, as the city also has its share of gangs and corrupt cops as well.

An argument could be made that other heroes would do a better job of keeping the city safe, especially ones from Marvel. In fact, many of Marvel’s best and brightest could do better than Batman at cleaning up Gotham.

10 Punisher’s Bloody Methods Would Cut Down On Crime Pretty Quickly

Punisher is one of Marvel’s best anti-heroes and his methods would have an impact on crime in Gotham immediately. Punisher doesn’t mess around with the criminal justice system and the revolving door of prisons and asylums. He just shoots people until they stop moving and then shoots MORE people.

Gotham’s worst criminals would find themselves hunted down by a man that played by the same rules they did and it wouldn’t work out very well for them. Punisher is a much better detective than he seems and his skill at improvisation and bullheaded toughness would put Gotham on the track to being crime-free pretty quickly.

9 Iron Man Could Overwhelm Any Criminal Opposition

Iron Man has a lot of prerequisites that Batman has- he’s a billionaire industrialist who is also something of a super genius. However, the difference between the two is that while Batman has super powerful armor, he doesn’t use it very much; Iron Man’s whole schtick is using his various suits of armor to fight evil.

It’s that armor that would allow him to fight crime in Gotham so efficiently; he may not be nearly the detective Batman is but his technology would more than make up for it and he’d be in no danger from any of the bad guys.

8 The Winter Soldier Would Leave Crime Out In The Cold

Bucky has been through a lot of a changes over the years but his greatest was when he became the Winter Soldier. He was always a great soldier but the Russian enhancements made him that much more dangerous and it’s those skills that would make a big difference in Gotham City. Winter Soldier is quite formidable and he doesn’t have any qualms with using lethal force.

Winter Soldier would headhunt the most dangerous criminals, taking the head off the underworld before mopping up what was left. It wouldn’t be pretty but it would most certainly clean up the city.

7 Venom Would Take A Bite Out Of Crime- Literally

Venom has never been known for his detective skills, but with powers like his, he wouldn’t exactly need them. He would cut through most Gotham gangs like a hot knife through butter and wouldn’t really need to do too much mopping up afterwards. For example, just what is the Riddler and any gang he hired going to do to Venom?

While Venom has some easily exploitable weaknesses, he’s also powerful enough to take out just about everyone smart enough to figure them out and his often lethal methods mean that when he takes someone out, they stay taken out. Venom’s power would make him perfect to deal with crime in Gotham.

6 Jean Grey’s Mental Powers Would Let Her End Crime In Gotham At The Speed Of Thought

Jean Grey is one of the most important members of the X-Men. She’s also one of the team’s most experienced members, having been with the group since the beginning and having begun training with Professor X from an even earlier age. Her mental powers have made her clutch and they would especially help in Gotham.

Her telekinetic skills would let her take down any foes and protect herself, while her telepathy would make solving crimes and finding where villains are hiding a snap. She’s also just as mentally tough as they come, which would help her against the often monstrous villains of Gotham.

5 Luke Cage Would Bash Through Gotham’s Underworld Like A Wrecking Ball

Luke Cage was always one of the Marvel Universe’s toughest strong men but his time with the Avengers and the Thunderbolts showed that he was much more of a multi-faceted hero than most. This is needed in Gotham, as the crime there is beyond the garden variety.

Luke Cage has shown he can deal with just about anything and that’s important. On top of that, his massive super strength and unbreakable skin would make a huge difference in the battle against Gotham’s underworld. Most of them use rather conventional weapons, which would have no effect on Luke and he’d be able to bash through just about anyone in his way.

4 Daredevil’s Super Senses Would Make Up For His Lack Of Resources And Lackluster Detective Skills

It’s almost a cliche to say that Daredevil would do well in Gotham but it’s also the truth. While he’s nowhere near the detective Batman is, his super-senses would allow him to track criminals from the crime scenes easily. He wouldn’t need all of the tech and tricks that Batman uses- he has them all already.

On top of that, his fighting skills are pretty much unmatched and would allow him to mow through whatever the gangs of Gotham threw at him. While he doesn’t have the resources or knowledge Batman does, his super senses and fighting skills make up for that.

3 Deadpool’s Ability To Survive Anything Would Be A Boon Fighting Crime In Gotham

Deadpool is not a good detective. He’s basically an unkillable cartoon character and that would actually be a lot of help against the bad guys of Gotham. It wouldn’t matter what they threw at him- bullets, bombs, or death traps wouldn’t hurt him and just spur him on to keep going after them.

Once he found them, it would be the kind of righteous slaughter that would thin out their numbers immensely. Deadpool is inexorable; he just keeps coming no matter what his foes do to him and that will spell doom for the underworld of Gotham. Batman can get injured and has to do things the smart way- Deadpool would come at them like a bull in a china shop until there was nothing left.

2 Spider-Man’s Abilities And Smarts Make Him More Than A Match For Gotham Criminals

Spider-Man is kind of like what would happen if Batman had superpowers and a better disposition. He shares a lot in common with the Dark Knight- a tragic back story, intelligence, and the type of never say die attitude that is crucial to being a superhero. Add to that his super strength, agility, and spider-sense and he’d teach the Gotham underworld a thing or two.

Spider-Man may not have Batman’s billions but he doesn’t need them; his smarts and skills would more than make up for that and his superpowers would give him an edge that Batman doesn’t have. The villains of Gotham wouldn’t know what hit them.

1 Wolverine Would Carve Up The Gotham Underworld

Wolverine is the best there is at what he does and in this case, that would be taking down the Gotham underworld. Wolverine’s healing factor and adamantium skeleton would allow him to survive anything thrown at him, his super-senses would help him hunt down the criminals, and his claws and fighting skills would cut a bloody swath through anyone in his way.

Wolverine is one of the most dangerous heroes around and if he was dropped in Gotham, it would pretty much spell the end for crime in the city. His brutal methods combined with amazing durability, super senses, and years of experience make him perfect for cleaning up the city.
