October may have only just ended, but the Hallmark Channel is already moving full steam ahead with its Christmas movie schedule. The Crown Network has over 40 new movies premiering this season, across the Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, and streaming service Hallmark Movies Now.

The movies feature many returning and new faces, with familiar leads, like Lacey Chabert and Holly Robinson Peete, alongside newcomers such as Inbar Lavi. Many movies this year are continuations of beloved franchises or straightforward sequels to past seasons’ biggest hits. But which of these 40-plus movies are the one’s worth looking forward to?

10 One December Night – Airing From November 13, 2021

One December Night premieres on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries on November 13. The movie stars Brett Dalton (Agents of Shield) and Eloise Mumford as the main couple, but also features a multigenerational storyline with their characters’ fathers as portrayed by household names Bruce Campbell and Peter Gallagher.

The official logline released by Hallmark reads, “Two music managers must put their history aside to oversee the televised reunion performance of their rock star fathers with a fractured past.” Many past successful Hallmark movies rely on familiar tropes, including musical subplots, as well as well-casted roles for parents. With the addition of Marvel favorite Dalton and Hallmark regular Mumford, this movie has what it takes to be a classic.

9 A Christmas Treasure – Airing From November 7, 2021

8 Eight Gifts Of Hanukkah – Airing From December 3, 2021

In recent years, Hallmark has thankfully expanded its diversity efforts, ranging from producing more films with people of color to featuring LGBTQ+ romances. Eight Gifts of Hanukkah continues the network’s new trend of producing films for holidays other than Christmas as well. The film premieres on Hallmark Channel on December 3 and stars Inbar Lavi (Lucifer) and Jake Epstein (Degrassi).

The film’s synopsis is brief at the moment, simply reading, “A woman journeys to find her secret admirer during Hanukkah.” But with Lucifer’s breakout star Lavi in the leading role, this movie is guaranteed to be a must-watch for many fans, in addition to a welcome change of pace from one Christmas movie after another.

7 Every Time A Bell Rings – Airing From November 18, 2021

Every year, a few of Hallmark’s Christmas movies are more of an ensemble story than a straightforward romance. Every Time a Bell Rings, first premiering on the Hallmark Movies Now streaming service on November 18, looks as though it might be the early contender for the best new ensemble film.

Lyndsy Fonseca (Nikita, Agent Carter) stars in the lead role as Angie, a woman who “wonders what her life would be like if she had married a former boyfriend who became a famous sportscaster.” Thanks to a magic time-traveling train – perfectly conducted by Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future) – Angie gets a second chance at her life from 10 years ago, which also reunites her with her mother, played by fellow Back to the Future star, Lea Thompson.

5 Debbie Macomber’s A Mrs. Miracle Christmas – Airing From November 6, 2021

Few Hallmark franchises have been as beloved as the Mrs. Miracle series of films. Previously, Mrs. Miracle was memorably portrayed by the late Doris Roberts in one of the best Hallmark Christmas movie performances by an actress. But this season, Hallmark is giving the series a reboot with Caroline Rhea (Sabrina the Teenage Witch) in the titular role.

Premiering on November 6 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, Debbie Macomber’s A Mrs. Miracle Christmas finds Mrs. Miracle “swoop[ing] in to renew [the] Christmas Spirit” of “a family fac[ing] loneliness and loss of faith.” The Mrs. Miracle franchise is one of Hallmark’s most beloved to date, so it’s safe to say expectations are high for this movie.

4 Our Christmas Journey – Airing From December 4, 2021

In yet another sign of Hallmark’s commitment to promoting new, inclusive stories, Hallmark regular, Holly Robinson Peete, is starring in Our Christmas Journey, premiering December 4 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. Robinson Peete’s costar in the film is Nik Sanchez, an up-and-coming young actor with autism.

The logline reads, “As a single mom and her teenaged son with autism come to a crossroad during Christmas, she must learn to let go so he can flourish as she finds her own heart healing in unexpected ways.” This marks the first significant inclusion of a character with a disability in a Hallmark Christmas movie, something that Lifetime has been doing better than Hallmark, and it’s an incredibly exciting first step for the network.

3 Christmas At Castle Hart – Airing From November 27, 2021

Some might call Candace Cameron Bure Hallmark’s queen of Christmas, but Lacey Chabert is truly coming for that title in recent years with her increased holiday output. This year, Chabert is leading one of the network’s most exciting titles, Christmas at Castle Hart, which premieres on the Hallmark Channel in the prime Thanksgiving weekend spot of Saturday, November 27.

Chabert stars as “Brooke Bennett, [who] goes to Ireland for Christmas to search for her Irish roots. While there, she meets Aiden Hart, Earl of Glaslough,” portrayed by Hallmark newcomer, Stuart Townsend. When Brooke is “mistaken for an elite event planner, she’s hired to host his castle’s epic Christmas party.” Some of the best Hallmark movies involve mistaken identities as well as travel abroad. Add in the strength of this film’s cast and this might be a new classic in the making.

2 The Christmas House 2: Deck Those Halls – Airing From December 18, 2021

One of the biggest surprises in the 2020 Hallmark Christmas movie season was The Christmas House, which includes among its cast Robert Buckley, Jonathan Bennett, Treat Williams, and Sharon Lawrence. The film is mostly known for its depiction of a loving married gay couple, as portrayed by Bennett and costar, Brad Harder. The original film even received a GLAAD Award nomination for Outstanding TV Movie.

Not one to miss the opportunity to capitalize on past successes and good press, Hallmark is returning to these beloved characters with The Christmas House 2: Deck Those Halls, premiering on December 18 on the Hallmark Channel. This movie claims to be putting a focus on the central “Mitchell brothers, [who] compete to see who can create the best Christmas House.”

1 The Nine Kittens Of Christmas – Airing From November 25, 2021

One of the most underrated Hallmark Christmas movies is also one that has developed a cult following in recent years: The Nine Lives of Christmas, starring Brandon Routh (Legends of Tomorrow) and Kimberley Sustad. Seven years later, Hallmark is finally producing a sequel film, The Nine Kittens of Christmas, which has been given the highly desired Thanksgiving premiere date of November 25 on Hallmark Channel.

In the sequel, “Cat lovers Zachary and Marilee are thrown back together at Christmas when they’re tasked with finding homes for a litter of adorable kittens.” Given how beloved the original movie is for its love story (and its cats), it might come as a shock to many that Zachary and Marilee split up in the first place. Hopefully, the movie delivers not just in the cat department, but in the romantic reconciliation, too.
