The Pokémon franchise has multiple creatures that stand out because of their fantastical designs. They draw inspiration from myth and folklore, creating beings that would look at home in any fantasy world.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is one of the most beloved fantasy franchises of all time. Its universe has no shortage of fantastic beasts, and plenty of Pokémon would fit the bill. Indeed, many fans could see Hagrid fascinated by Hydreigon or the creepy Banette haunting the Forbidden Forest. Like these two, many other Pokémon would fit right into this world of magic and wonder, enriching it with their presence.

Banette

Without a doubt, Banette is one of the Pokémon with the scariest designs. Its origin is also pretty dark, as it is a discarded doll brought to life by the sheer hatred it has for the owner who threw it away. Banette will haunt dark alleyways, using its body like a voodoo doll to inflict curses on others.

The Harry Potter universe has its fair share of sentient objects that seemingly think for themselves, the most notorious being Voldemort’s many Horcruxes. Banette could very well pass for one of those cursed objects, thanks to its devious behavior and hateful nature.

Hydreigon

All Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon are quite powerful, although a few manage to stand out. Hydreigon, the dual Dragon-Dark type Pseudo-Legendary of the Unova region, has one of the most striking designs in the franchise, drawing inspiration from mythological beings like the hydra and the Yamata no Orochi.

Dragons are common in the Wizarding World. Indeed, Harry has more than one encounter with these beasts of myth. It wouldn’t be difficult to imagine him facing Hydreigon in the Triwizard Tournament, for example. Hydreigon’s savage nature makes it challenging to domesticate, but several Pokémon Trainers manage to do it, so there’s no reason why a skilled wizard couldn’t succeed too.

Delphox

Starter Pokémon are among the most powerful in any region, so even the weakest will still be above-average in battle. Delphox might not be the best final form for a Fire-Starter Pokémon, but it is still a decent partner for any Kalos playthrough.

Delphox is unique in the franchise because it is one of the only Pokémon to hold a wand of sorts. The wooden stick lights up in battle, and Delphox uses it to cast psychic spells. Trainers believe this Pokémon can see the future by gazing into the stick’s flames. Delphox is Pokémon’s equivalent to an actual wizard, complete with its very own magic wand. It would feel right at home in Hogwarts!

Mismagius

Mismagius draws inspiration from witches and wizards. This becomes evident in its design, which includes a pointy hat and a cloak-like body. A pure Ghost-type Pokémon, Mismagius’ cry can induce headaches and hallucinations. It also enjoys putting people to sleep.

This prankster Pokémon would get along famously with Hogwarts’ most notorious resident, Peeves the poltergeist. Together, they would cause Argus Filch no shortage of trouble, making every student in the castle experience hallucinations on their way to Charm Class.

Polteageist

The Galar region has plenty of unique Pokémon. Polteageist and its pre-evolution, Sinistea, belong to this select group, standing out above all other item-inspired Pokémon thanks to its overly English design. Polteageist is a specter that inhabits restaurants and hotels, infecting teapots to create more of its kind.

Harry Potter is a notoriously English franchise, and what’s more English than tea? Indeed, Polteageist’s tea tastes delicious but will cause indigestion to anyone who drinks it; it only allows its Trainer to drink unlimited teacups, so wizards better be careful before taking a sip.

Chandelure

In the pantheon of “evil” Pokémon, Chandelure and its pre-evolutions hold a place of honor. This Pokémon family might look cute, but it’s actually dangerous. Chandelure’s flames don’t burn the body, but they do ignite the spirit, incinerating it and cursing it to roam the mortal world forever.

Chandelure thus fits the HP franchise’s theme of “beware of sentient objects.” Wizards would get used to seeing this haunted chandelier, but they would avoid it like the plague. The Ministry of Magic would probably make an effort to regulate them, but Dark Wizards would still find a way to exploit them.

Corviknight

Corviknight is the coolest regional bird in Pokémon, no questions asked. Everything about it is unique and borderline spectacular, from its type combo to its awesome design. Corviknight is a fan favorite, and there’s hardly a Sword & Shield team without this mighty bird.

Corviknight takes inspiration from ravens, carrion crows, and western jackdaws, three birds commonly found in the UK. Furthermore, its overall appearance seems inspired by medieval knights, particularly the idea of a “black knight,” making it ideal for the fantastical world of HP. Fans can almost see Corviknight pulling the Hogwarts carriages along with the Thestrals.

Alcremie

As far as sweet Pokémon go, none beats Alcremie. This delightful creature is literally whipped cream. It comes in several different forms, depending on the Sweet used to evolve its pre-evolution, Milcery, and the direction and speed of the spin.

The Wizarding World doesn’t have many examples of enchanted food. However, it wouldn’t be impossible to imagine Alcremie as an inhabitant of Hogwarts Castle, perhaps due to an enchantment gone wrong. The House-elves at the kitchens would do their best to care for them, and most students’ hearts would melt at the sight of these walking sweets.

Galarian Rapidash

Rapidash has been around since Generation I as one of the coolest Fire-type Pokémon. However, Galarian Rapidash is simply a breath of fresh air. This unicorn-inspired Pokémon quickly became a fan-favorite of the Galar region, thanks mainly to its colorful and candy-coated design.

Unicorns are very important in the Wizarding World. Wizards and other magical beings consider them sacred and pure and protect them at every cost. Considering Galarian Rapidash is a literal unicorn, its existence in the HP world is a no-brainer. Indeed, the Forbidden Forest would be brightened by its presence.

Xerneas

Xerneas is not only the best and strongest Legendary Pokémon in the Kalos region but also one of the most regal and awe-inspiring creatures in the entire franchise. Thanks to its multicolored antlers and status as the ultimate sharer of life, Xerneas is one of the most magical Pokémon ever created.

Stags play a prominent role in the Harry Potter series, being the Patronus of James and Harry Potter. The symbolism would only increase with Xerneas’ presence in the Wizarding World. This mighty being of eternal life would be a near-deity for the wizarding community, thought to be a legend and only seen by a select few across the ages.
