Thanks to its offbeat humor and fluid storylines, Letterkenny is considered by many as one of the greatest Canadian sitcoms ever made. The series which was initially produced video-on-demand service Crave became so popular that it was acquired by Hulu. The network proceeded to produce a seventh and eighth season.

Apart from the creative jokes, the things that stand out about Letterkenny are its unique rural/small-town setting and close-knit community. 10 Bless This Mess (2019-2020)

Fans of Letterkenny’s settings and small population will love with this ABC comedy. The series has two seasons with each episode running for an average time of 30 minutes, hence making it a quick watch.

Bless This Mess follows a newly-wed couple that decides to relocate from the chaotic New York City to a farm in rural Nebraska that the husband inherited from his aunt. But life isn’t as peaceful as they thought. They have to deal with an old man who has set camp on their farm as well as the largely naive community.

9 Trailer Park Boys (2014 – Present)

There are 12 seasons of Trailer Park Boys and a total of 105 episodes so far. That’s enough viewing to last any comedy fan for a couple of weeks. There are also two movies and two spin-offs stemming from the series.

The plot mostly revolves around a group of residents at the Sunnyvale Trailer Park that tries to make a living by committing petty offenses and dodging the police. The series follows a professional baseball pitcher, who turned his back on his town many years ago to live the life of glory. But after being dragged through multiple challenges in his career, he is forced to go back home where he takes up a job as a physical education teacher.

7 Hart Of Dixie (2011 – 2017)

Wonder where you’ve seen Black Lightning star Cress Williams before? Well, if you haven’t seen him anywhere before, you can find him right here in the CW comedy-drama series.

Hart Of Dixie follows a general practitioner who takes up a job in the small, fictional town of Bluebell, Alabama after he dreams of becoming a heart surgeon in New York fail to materialize. Due to her “city” persona, she has had quite a time connecting with city residents and getting patients.

6 Hardy Bucks (2010-2018)

Irish series Hardy Bucks started as a series of online comedy sketches. After the sketches won major comedy awards, a full TV series was commissioned. A movie was also produced later on by Universal Pictures.

Events take place in a fictional West Ireland rural town named Castleland. The plot revolves around five men who keep trying to leave the town and go to America in order to get the perks of urban settings. Sadly, they keep failing in their attempts. The comedic elements thus stem from their frustrations.

5 Northern Exposure (1990-1995)

The CBS comedy-drama series almost has the same kind of offbeat humor as Letterkenny. Having doubts about its brilliance? Northern Exposure was nominated for 57 awards across different organizations during its run and won 27, including an Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series.

Northern Exposure follows Joel Fleischman a recently graduated physician in New York City who is assigned to a remote town in Alaska to repay the state for giving him a loan for his medical degree. 4 The Ranch (2016-2020)

Viewers who miss Ashton Kutcher’s comedic performances from shows such as Two & a Half Men can check out Netflix comedy/drama series The Ranch. It’s quite similar to Letterkenny from the fact that a lead character has sports roots. There’s also the small-town rural setting.

The series follows a dysfunctional family living in a fictional farm known as the Iron River Ranch in the fictional town of Garrison, Colorado. There are two brothers, one of whom is a former pro-football player, their father who is a farmer, and their mother who runs a local bar.

3 The Red Green Show (1991-2006)

The Red Green Show enjoyed the kind of long run that only happens with procedural crime shows. The CBC comedy has a total of 15 seasons and 305 episodes. Reruns are still aired across several networks to date.

Events in the Canadian sitcom mostly take place inside Corner Gas, the only gas station for 37 miles across all directions. Schitt’s Creek follows a once-wealthy family that’s forced to relocate to a small town known as Schitt’s Creek. The family had bought the town as a birthday gift for their son years earlier but are now forced to live in it and adjust to their life of poverty. Their struggles provide all the humor.
