With millions of storybooks out there, there are a lot of fan favorites that have made it to Disney. Here are some more that could make for classics.

The giant corporation Disney has been in the movie business for a long time, with hundreds of successful films and instant classics under their belts. With movies like Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Tangled all taking influence from children’s storybooks, one is left to wonder which character is next in becoming the next Disney classic.
For centuries, authors from all over the world have created characters in their stories that are practically timeless and still talked about today hundreds of years later. With a handful of stories and storybook characters to choose from, here are 10 characters we thought deserved to be the next big Disney movie.
10 Little Red Riding Hood
A story as old as time and one that most kids can rehearse by heart. A young girl in a red hood is sent to give her grandma some treats and when she gets there, she is met by the evil wolf who is disguised as her grandmother.
We’ve seen several iterations of the Little Red Riding Hood in both live-action and animated movies, but Disney has the opportunity to turn the movie into something heartfelt and touching to movie fans.
9 Three Little Pigs
Like The Little Red Riding Hood, the Three Little Pigs has gone through many iterations and could use the Disney treatment to turn it into a good heartfelt story.
We all know the story of the pigs, each building their house with different materials and each being victimized by the big bad wolf. It’s a story of determination, family, and triumphing over evil.
8 Hansel & Gretel
Arguably the most morbid of the stories in this list, Hansel & Gretel is a story about a pair of young siblings who are captured by a manipulative witch with a house made of sweets and candy. After learning that the witch intends to eat the children, the siblings use their wits to escape the witch and find their father who they thought had abandoned them.
This could make for a very compelling story and one that could have just as equally a happy ending like in the original book.
7 Goldilocks & Three Little Bears
The Three Little Bears feature one of the most famous storybook characters in history and can serve as the next great Disney princess. Goldilocks was a little girl lost in the woods until she stumbles on a little cottage that was owned by a bear family.
Like Rapunzel in Tangled or Alice in Alice in Wonderland, they wouldn’t have to follow the story exactly and can use the characters to make their own stories.
6 Humpty Dumpty
Everybody knows the rhyme and tragic tale of Humpty Dumpty. Unlike many of the characters on this list, Humpty doesn’t have a complete story and his history is a little bit vague.
This could be used as an advantage for the Disney creative team as they could use the character and make a story that gives Humpty a much brighter future that doesn’t result in him falling.
5 Huckleberry Finn
Huckleberry Finn is an iconic fictional character and often used as a prince example of American classic stories. Huckleberry Finn has the ideal personality to debut on Disney. His sense of adventure, his resourcefulness, and his can-do attitude would make for a great character to revolve a movie around.
Huck is easily recognizable and like Peter Pan or James from James and the Giant Peach, the boys are infectious with their bravery and sense of adventure.
4 Tom Sawyer
Like Huck, Tom Sawyer is another recognizable American literature character that can become an instant classic with a movie about him.
Like Huck, Tom is a young man with a sense of adventure and getting out of his normal everyday life. But unlike Huck, Tom Sawyer is a little bit more mischievous which can make the movie a little bit better.
3 The Velveteen Rabbit
The classic British story about the Velveteen Rabbit is not only a feel-good story but one of inspiration. The story follows a stuffed rabbit whos biggest desire is to become real and he wishes to accomplish this with the love of his owner.
Like Winnie The Pooh, the rabbit instills family values, staying true to yourself, and maybe even some touching moments that can bring tears to our eyes.
2 The Little Prince
The French classic follows a pilot who crashes in a desert and only has eight days to fix his plane to save himself. While stranded, he meets a little boy (the Little Prince) who has claimed to travel all over space and planets.
With his mystical abilities, the stories metaphors, and the intriguing plot, The Little Prince can receive praise similar to that of Coco.
1 The Ugly Duckling
The last and final great storybook character is the Ugly Duckling. When it comes to stories about staying true to who you are, this one is the most used example and for good reason.
Following a swan born to believe he is ugly, the little guy is subjected to teasing and neglect from his family and friends until he grows up to become a beautiful swan.
