Girl Meets World premiered on the Disney Channel in 2014 as a highly anticipated spin-off of Boy Meets World (1993-2000). Girl Meets World revolved around Cory and Topanga’s family in New York City. Rowan Blanchard played their daughter, Riley, August Maturo played their son, Auggie, and Sabrina Carpenter played Riley’s best friend, Maya.

10 Danielle Fishel Is A Director And Podcaster

Danielle Fishel grew up onscreen as a successful actress, but she is also a skilled director. While reprising her role as Topanga on Girl Meets World, Danielle also wrote one episode of the series and directed four. She continues to work on other sitcoms such as Disney Channel’s Sydney to the Max and Raven’s Home.

Danielle is married to Jensen Karp, a writer, television professional, and former rapper. Danielle and Jensen have a network of content, including awesome podcasts, called The Karps Network. They have a Patreon group where fans can sign up for exclusive shows and games of Scorantine (a socially distant game show).

9 Ben Savage Knew Girl Meets World Was For A New Generation

Ben Savage manages to stay out of the spotlight these days, and he has done some behind-the-scenes work in the past, as well. He directed ten episodes of Girl Meets World and, like Danielle Fishel, is listed as one of its producers. In a 2014 Time Magazine interview, Ben Savage wouldn’t reveal exactly what made him decide to reprise his role as Cory, but he did offer a touching hope for the series at the time. Ben emphasized that the sitcom was for a new generation of kids who would hopefully be positively influenced by it. He also shared the understanding that shows of the 2010s had new issues to cover with the rise of technology. Fans often discuss the differences between the original series and Girl Meets World, but they don’t always realize what the newer show’s design was in the first place.

8 Will Friedle Almost Wasn’t Eric

Fans were delighted when Eric Matthews remained part of the family for Girl Meets World, but he might have never been Eric at all if things had turned out differently. 6 Rowan Blanchard Got Started On Disney Junior

Rowan Blanchard started acting before her onscreen best friend did. While Sabrina Carpenter was watching Hannah Montana, Rowan Blanchard was getting her start in the industry. Her first big role was on a Disney Junior series called Dance-A-Lot Robot, which encouraged preschoolers at home to get up and dance along with the show. Auggie, the youngest family member on Girl Meets World, is now thirteen years old. According to his IMDb, August Maturo began acting when he was only two. The young actor continues to work on various projects, and Girl Meets World fans always loved his spunky character.

3 Peyton Meyer Is Gaining Big Hollywood Roles

Peyton Meyer, the actor who played Lucas on Girl Meets World, had a head start at the Disney Channel. He had a recurring role on the less than realistic Dog With a Blog in 2013 and 2014, just before GMW began. Peyton is continuing a successful career in Hollywood and will star in a gender-swapped reboot of She’s All That (1999). In He’s All That, Peyton Meyer will work alongside fellow Disney alum Madison Pettis.

2 Ava Kolker’s Role Led To More Disney Channel Success

It’s not uncommon for kid actors to do recurring roles on Disney Channel shows before becoming future series regulars. Ava Kolker mirrored August Maturo in playing a role with her own first name. On Girl Meets World, Ava and Auggie added so much laughter and cuteness.

A couple of years after the show wrapped, Ava landed the role of Olive Rozalski on Sydney to the Max, which premiered in 2019. The series has allowed Ava to continue working with Danielle Fishel, who has directed episodes of the series.

1 Cheryl Texiera Has A Diverse Entertainment Background

Katy Hart, Maya’s mom, became important in the action of Girl Meets World as she developed a relationship with Shawn Hunter. Their beautiful wedding was even officiated by Mr. Feeny. Katy was played by Cheryl Texiera, an actress, writer, producer, director, voiceover artist, choreographer, and acting coach. Cheryl was on the first season of So You Think You Can Dance and won a freestyle hip-hop competition on MTV.
