The Star Wars franchise is one with such an incredible range of character dynamics and relationships, from sweeping romances across the stars to rivalries built on hate and vengeance and everything in between. Across the various pieces of media, there are relationships of all types that resonate with fans and are incredibly entertaining, not least of all the various bromances.

There are many iconic duos in the franchise that transcend a basic friendship and move into the bromance category. These bromances provide not only hilarious moments but genuinely sweet ones.

10 “Well, Look At You – A General, Huh?”

By the time of Return Of The Jedi, when Han is free from his carbonite freezing, everything that went down between him and Lando in The Empire Strikes Back had been forgiven, and audiences get this amazing friendship moment.

Han admits he told the rebel higher-ups Lando was a good pilot, leading to Lando becoming a general, and the two look genuinely happy to be in each other’s company. Encompassed in this is a moment that came soon after when Han told Lando to take the Millennium Falcon for his part of the mission.

9 Finn & Poe Reunite At D’qar

Undoubtedly the best friendship not involving a droid in the sequel trilogy is between Finn and Poe, a bromance that was a standout aspect of the sequel trilogy, specifically The Force Awakens.

Not long after they have their great meeting, they are separated, with Finn believing Poe to be dead. When they get back to the Resistance Base separately and spot each other thanks to BB-8, they run to each other, hug, and have an incredible bromance moment.

8 Zeb & Ezra’s Meiloorun Run

The friendship of Garazeb Orellios and Ezra Bridger is one of the standouts in Star Wars TV, and despite a rocky start the two have, they end up being just like brothers.

The turning point in their relationship was when Hera sent them on a wild goose chase for a Meiloorun fruit. Rather than a single moment, the whole “Fighter Flight” episode sees the two bond until the end of the episode, where they have a genuinely good report with one another, bantering on the Ghost before chasing Chopper together.

7 Han Saves Luke On Hoth

The entire opening of The Empire Strikes Back on Hoth is amazing, with such great moments, one of which being Han risking his life to go and find Luke in the freezing, snowy desert of Hoth.

Han showing no hesitation in finding his friend despite everyone warning him against it was great and selfless itself. When he finds Luke, despite Luke being in no way physically and mentally stable at that moment, it is a fantastic moment between two friends, as Han desperately tried to warm his friend and save his life.

6 Rex Tells Echo To Go With Clone Force 99

One of the best parts of The Clone Wars series was exploring, humanizing, and individualizing the clones, adding so many phenomenal characters to the canon by doing so and friendships within the brotherhood.

By far, the most prominent clones in the series are those of the 501st Legion, two of which being Captain Rex and Echo. When the latter was rescued by the former after becoming a pawn of the Separatists and being turned into more machine than man, he was so different from most of his clone brothers. Despite being apart from his brother and missing him, Rex told him to go with Clone Force 99, other different clones, if he felt that is where he belonged.

5 Han & Chewie Reunite In Jabba’s Palace

Han Solo being in carbonite freezing separated him from his friends, his family, for a year, longer than Chewie would have ever gone without being with Han since they met.

When Han is put in the dungeons of Jabba’s Palace, he is greeted by a jubilant Chewbacca who banters with Han but also hugs him tight and even strokes his hair out of love and out of missing his closest friend.

4 “General.” “General.”

Going back to the great Finn and Poe relationship, they had some great moments together throughout the whole trilogy, but arguably the very best comes in the latter half of The Rise Of Skywalker.

In what was a fitting culmination to Poe’s rocky arc, he was made General but realized he could not do it alone and asked Finn to be a General alongside him. It was a fantastic moment in both characters’ stories, and it was touching to see the respect and care the two have for one another.

3 Anakin & Obi-Wan Say Goodbye

Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi are, undoubtedly, the best duo of the prequel trilogy of films, being brothers and having some excellent moments, especially in Revenge of the Sith.

Before Anakin’s fall to Darth Vader, he and Obi-Wan shared a final goodbye (unbeknownst to them) where Obi-Wan pretty much tells Anakin how proud he is of him. It is a bittersweet moment, it is beautiful between the characters, but it is also the last time they see each other while Anakin was on the light side of the Force.

2 Luke & Han (& Leia) Celebrate Destroying The Death Star

The original trilogy gave way to many fantastic relationships involving any combination of characters between Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Chewbacca, and the droids, with the end of A New Hope providing one of Han and Luke’s best moments.

Before they go off to the medal ceremony, the two immediately celebrate destroying the Death Star with each other after Han returned to help save the day. Seeing all the heroes so happy with one another, hugging, celebrating, telling Han they knew he would return and not be selfish induces so much happiness in audiences.

1 Threepio & Artoo, Best Friends

The only friendship to be seen through the prequels, originals, and sequels is that between R2-D2 and C-3Po, who had unquestionably their most wholesome moment in The Rise Of Skywalker.

The two droids have a conversation in which C-3PO says goodbye to Artoo and tells him he is the best friend Threepio has ever had. It is genuinely tear-jerking seeing the two admit to having such care and love for one another, especially Threepio. It is a fantastic culmination of forty-plus years of the two being constants in the Skywalker saga.
