10 WTF It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia Moments

As a series starring the worst people ever, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia has had some truly WTF moments throughout the years.

Trying to determine the most WTF moments on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is a shockingly difficult task. There is an almost endless number of occurrences that fit the bill on a show almost totally made out of WTF moments. Honestly, a top ten list could be done for almost every episode.

Despite that, there are certainly a few truly horrifying moments that stand out above, or below as the case may be, the rest. This show might be about the five worst people in the world and they prove it every chance they get.

10 Frank Goes Fracking

As the bankroll behind everything the gang does, Frank is constantly looking for new ways to make money. He’s a surprisingly shrewd, and ruthless, businessman. This time, the gang returned to their old skiing haunt to reclaim lost glory, pitting Dee and Mac against Dennis and Frank for control of the mountain.

While the plot of an ’80s ski movie played out, Frank used the opportunity to literally frack the mountain and make a buttload of money. The revelation of his plan also featured the realization that Charlie slept with a prostitute, most likely getting an STD in the process, and Dennis broke both ankles in a ski competition that didn’t matter.

9 Dennis & Dee’s Mom

The key part of being part of the Paddy’s gang is constantly trying to get one over on everyone else. That includes everyone in the gang, not just the strangers and marks that wander in. Eventually, the gang started questioning Frank’s skills since he seemed to be losing his edge due to his age. In their defense, he did keep misplacing the shoes he was wearing.

To prove he still had game, Frank tricked the rest of the gang into digging up Dennis and Dee’s long-dead mother, leading to an incredibly traumatic experience for everyone involved.

8 The Ponderosa/McPoyle Wedding

In a moment of weakness, Dennis once made the mistake of marrying Maureen Ponderosa, a woman who would eventually die falling off a roof while pretending to be a cat. Before her death, she and Dennis divorced, leaving him with huge alimony payments until Maureen decided to marry Liam McPoyle.

Everything went off the rails when Maureen’s father spiked the drinks with bath salts and all the freaky McPoyles tried to eat each other. Liam lost an eye and the wedding never happened, leaving Dennis in the same place he was before.

7 Frank In A Couch

Christmas for the gang is a time of endless, terrifying delights. Nothing good ever happens during this time of year as it normally just amplifies all the insane things that usually happen. During one of their first Christmas episodes, Mac and Charlie learned that some of their childhood traditions were not quite what they thought they were.

Somehow, Charlie violently attacking a mall Santa wasn’t the most insane thing that happened in the episode. Wanting to get the drop on the employees at his former company, Frank hid inside a leather couch to spy on them. The end result was a naked, sweaty Frank popping out of a couch partway through the party.

6 Tailgating Eagles’ Training Camp

Thanks to the movie Invincible, everyone in Philly believed they could play for the team. As such, the Eagles organized a walk-on day to satisfy the crowds and make them go away; however, what happened on the field wasn’t where things got weird.

It was the tailgating party in the parking lot. Frank and Charlie went tailgating, with the unsettling McPoyles setting up shop beside them. Frank took a lot of acid and slipped a large amount into Charlie’s beer as well. Frank ended up standing in a garbage can while holding a gun and crapping himself, while Charlie went full Green Man.

5 Squashing Beefs

After years of pissing virtually everyone in Philly off, the gang came to the important realization that they had a lot of beefs that needed to be squashed.

The plan was to invite their enemies over to Dennis and Mac’s apartment, have a nice dinner, and get them to sign truces. The end result was the gang trapping their enemies all in a burning apartment and letting the fire sort everything out for them.

4 Rickety Cricket Becomes A Salesman

No one has suffered more at the hands of the gang than Matthew Mara. A friend for high school who used to be obsessed with Dee, Matthew was a priest when he reappeared in their lives.

Since then, the gang has stripped everything away from him, leaving a homeless, disfigured drug addict behind. One of the worst things they did to Matthew was using him to sell stolen cocaine, getting him hooked, and then handing him over to the mob who broke his legs.

3 Mac & Charlie Avenge Their Bikes

After picking up a pair of sweet, sweet bikes, Mac and Charlie decided to take a ride. One of their bikes got stolen, which mirrored an incident that happened to them when they were kids.

Naturally, the bike was stolen by the son of the guy who stole their bikes when they were younger and his friends. After trying to do things the right way, Mac and Charlie decided to take a different route and beat the hell out of the kids, possibly killing one of them.

2 Dee Becomes A Comedian

One of the ongoing gags in the series is how funny Dee thinks she is. When she is funny, it’s because of how unfunny her jokes are. After years of abuse, Dee finally snapped and gave up on life. Frank, Charlie, and Mac convinced her to give comedy one last chance while Dennis tried to find her someone to settle down with.

Surprisingly, Dee was incredibly successful. Unsurprisingly, it was all a setup to bring Dee back from the brink, which she wasn’t happy about. The worst part was when the gang realized they accidentally broke Dennis in the process as he wasn’t in on the plan.

1 Ass Kickers United

Dealing with Mac can be a difficult ongoing issue, one that Dennis is all too aware of. To control him, Dennis created a fake group called Ass Kickers United and used it to manipulate Mac.

Dennis ended up in an unwanted competition with Dee to use the group to their advantage. It ended with another fire at Dennis and Mac’s apartment that caused the death of at least one of the Ass Kickers. There’s a surprising amount of blood on the floor in that apartment.
