Solid Snake is one of the most iconic stealth protagonists in video games because of his skills and philosophical quotes. However, despite how serious the character can, there are moments when Solid Snake can be as humorous as others in the Metal Gear franchise.

Although Snake is occasionally humourous in the original series, he is far more fun in his crossover appearance in Super Smash Bros. As a result, there are plenty of funny quotes that the legendary mercenary has stated over the years.

8 “By Farting?! Are You Kidding Me?!”

One of the unique taunts that the player can use when playing as Snake in Shadow Moses focuses on Snake discussing Wario’s capabilities as a fighter. However, most of the conversation has made Snake more disgusted with Wario as both a character and a threat.

The funniest part of the conversation is when Colonel Campbell exclaims that one of Wario’s most dangerous abilities is farting, causing Snake to lose it due to how ridiculous it is. Solid Snake has seen many things, but even he has limits against an opponent as silly as Wario.

7 “Nope, Just Don’t Like Him.”

During the Super Smash Bros games, Solid Snake has fought and gave his opinions on different fighters, both good and bad. However, Solid Snake still has its limits even against famous and heroic characters like Sonic The Hedgehog.

Despite Otacon stating how much fans wanted the character in Super Smash Bros, Snake deadpans states that he doesn’t like him. Snake not even having a proper reason for why, and his delivery regarding the hedgehog only makes it funnier.

It’s rare for Solid Snake to be a fanboy with any form of media, but it seems like he is a massive fan of Captain Falcon, the mascot for the F-Zero franchise.

Alongside Otacon, Snake yells with glee the various superhuman abilities that the Captain has under his arsenal, screaming with a falcon punch like a child screaming a famous quote from a superhero. Although it’s innocent, the fact that it was Snake of all people to yell it out makes it even funnier.

5 “Give Me A Break! What Do I Look Like, A Pokemon Trainer?”

Another fun codec call is between Solid Snake and Pikachu, as Mei Ling asks the soldier to capture it. Innocently, Mei-Ling begs him to catch a Pikachu so that she can have it, only for Snake to bluntly replies that he isn’t a Pokémon Trainer.

The delivery deadpan helps with the humor of Snake, but it also shows how much he doesn’t care about catching any form of pokémon, even if they are as adorably popular as Pikachu.

4 “My Sympathies”

The quote is simple at first, but if players have watched one of the codecs of Metal Gear Solid 2, then they would understand the running gag of Rose’s awful cooking. Usually, Snake acts with respect towards most people he interacts with, even those that help him on his mission.

Still, upon discovering that Rose is cooking for his old friend Roy Campbell, he only wishes sympathy, primarily as Snake has heard similar horror stories about her cooking through his arguable successor, Raiden.

3 “If He Were Smart, He’d Tell Her To Stop Getting Kidnapped.”

Solid Snake is known for how blunt he is with the situation, acting as a cynical realist with any problem that he deals with in every game. Snake’s interaction with Peach is no exception, as he gets irritated when he hears that she gets consistently kidnapped in every Mario adventure.

Considering the experiences that Snake himself has gone through, rescuing a princess against a powerful monster would probably irritate him more than it would be rewarding.

2 “Not Unless I Wet My Pants”

The relationship between Solid Snake and Otacon is easily one of the most gripping friendships in the entire Metal Gear franchise. When Snake first met Otacon, he was a crying scientist who wet his pants when he first met the Cyborg Ninja.

Metal Gear Solid 2 brings this first meeting up if Snake is inside the locker, reminded of how he and Otacon first met back in Shadow Moses. Although Otacon thinks they are equal since they were both in a locker, Snake jabs him by simply saying he didn’t wet himself.

Solid Snake is recognizable for the amount of iconography he has as a character, from his classic bandanna to his infatuation with the cardboard box.

Metal Gear Solid 2 talks about this love of the cardboard box, particularly between Snake and Raiden, with the former starting to treat the box with love and not be rough. Considering it’s a running gag present throughout the series, Solid Snake’s love for the box would be one of the few times he would be humorous.
