Animal Crossing Can You Move Your House

Animal Crossing: New Horizons took the world by storm in 2020, partly due to everyone being trapped inside from the Covid pandemic. Nearly a year later, player’s imaginations are still running wild with new creations for housing, clothing, island designs, and more.

There is, of course, limited room on every island, and players might want to change the location of key buildings later on. In particular, New Horizons requires islanders to set the location of their house before anything else, and as the island expands that original location may simply not be ideal.

With that in mind, people might be wondering if they can move their house in Animal Crossing. The good news is that the answer is yes, it’s perfectly possible to move your house, but it requires just a bit of work.

Moving Your House Is Easy, But Requires Bells

The first step for moving a house in New Horizons is to build the Resident Services building. To do this players will need to have built Nook’s Cranny, the museum, three houses, and a bridge. Once Resident Services has been built the option to move buildings will be unlocked, and any building in the game can be moved around the island except for Resident Services itself. Simply talk to Tom Nook to initiate a move.

The big catch, of course, is that it’s going to cost 30,000 Bells to move the player’s house. That’s not a small sum by any means, so some time may need to be spent earning Bells. If it’s still early in the game the best way to earn is by collecting bugs and fish, then selling them at Resident Services. Of course, all the other items on the island can be sold as well, like flowers, wood, seashells, etc. If Nook’s Cranny is open keep in mind it’s better to sell items when the shop is open rather than place items in the box at night, as that will give less of a payout.

By far the best way to earn money in New Horizons is collecting fruit from other islands, planting it on the player’s island, and then selling it. Nook Tours can be taken by using Nook Miles, and the small islands that players visit will, more often than not, have other selections of fruit. Using any one of these strategies for making Bells should easily rack up the required 30,000. Now it’s just a matter of choosing a fresh new spot for your house.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is currently available on Nintendo Switch.
