Many 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? fans were shocked to see how badly Andrei Castravet acted with his wife, Elizabeth Potthast, on the July 19 episode. While in an argument, Andrei used a few swear words that were bleeped out by the network. Now, the reality star has come forward to defend his condescending behavior, claiming that he was not “rude” at all.
When the couple arrived in Andrei’s home country of Moldova, Andrei started acting like an alpha male. His wife noticed a drastic change in his character and called him a “male chauvinist” in an on-camera confession. At one point, Andrei told Elizabeth “to listen double” while in his country and went on to mock her in front of his friends for being “feminist”. In the recent episode, the couple’s fight got really serious, and the hot-headed Andrei ended up using cuss words, after which the Florida native decided to walk off the camera.
Now, the couple is clearing the air, affirming they are happy together and there is no trouble in their marriage. While talking to ET, Anderi said, “I curse sometimes and I’m not going to hide it. I maybe curse a lot. [There was] a little bit of friction and after that we exploded.” The couple was planning their wedding in Andrei’s native country, as his parents were not able to attend the first wedding in the States. They were in a stressful situation at the time and things weren’t working in their favor, which built up the tension between the pair.
Elizabeth also jumped to Andrei’s defense and said he belongs to a culture where people tend to be “blunt” and “cutthroat,” which might come across as disrespectful to many people (AKA, the viewers). The 29-year-old said, “It may come across as super rude, but to me, I understand him and where he’s coming from, and I know that it’s not a jab at me or intentionally being rude to me.” She continued, “I think that’s just his voice and his accent and him being a man, and you throw that all together and it comes off rude. I don’t take it that way.” But we have noticed that Andrei’s father (and mother) aren’t hard on anyone in the same way as their son. In fact, they come across as the sweetest people on the entire 90 Day Fiancé franchise. Still, the American beauty affirms that Andrei is “very romantic” and a very doting father to their daughter, Eleanor.
The Moldovan native revealed his wife also has a strong personality and can be “stubborn” at times, which isn’t featured on the series. But nevertheless, he adores her. He said, “I think she’s loving, but she can show her teeth. She can be aggressive to me, sometimes. It happens, I’m handling it. I thank her, I guess.” While the couple seems okay now, there is certainly more drama waiting for us on this season of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? as Elizabeth’s American family is yet to arrive in Moldova.
