Though the upcoming season of 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days will introduce plenty of new cast members, many viewers felt that The Other Way was lacking in fresh storylines. However, a number of cast members saw their follower counts rise despite the negative buzz.
The Other Way season 3 saw Ariela Weinberg taking a surprise turn as a villain after she invited her ex-husband Leandro Fosque to stay with her and her partner Biniyam Shibre. However, Ariela’s villain status was quickly outshined by newcomer Steven Johnston, who used his Mormon faith to control and manipulate his partner Alina. Sumit Singh and Jenny Slatten once again faced a plot that saw Sumit not wanting to marry Jenny. Meanwhile, Corey Rathgeber and Evelin Villegas had their drama panned after it was revealed they were secretly already married.
One thing that remained consistent was the love among fans for Kenneth Niedermeier and Armando Rubio. However, newcomers Victor Mclean and Ellie Rose were essentially written out of the show. Victor, @victa_baba, and Ellie, @elleroze, actually saw no growth in their Instagram followers, as they remain under 500 followers each. However, the cast members who gained followers are very telling in terms of how much their storylines generated buzz among fans. Out of the ten cast members with substantial Instagram followings, Ariela rose from being the fourth most followed before the season to the third most followed after the season. Ariela, @arieladanielle, went from 236K to 270K followers for a growth of 34K Instagram followers. Though Ariela received early criticism for her close relationship with Leandro, it appears her drama earned her a substantial amount of buzz. Fans are also interested in seeing how Ariela’s appearance has transformed.
2. Biniyam Shibre (+28K)
Despite the criticism they received, it appears Ariela and Biniyam gained attention for their relationship. Biniyam, who is the eighth most followed out of the cast, gained 28K Instagram followers to rise from 153K to 181K followers on Instagram. Biniyam, @biniyam_shibre, was initially painted as a victim when Leandro visited. However, he was then called out for partying while Ariela took their son Aviel to the US for surgery. Many viewers are curious as to the status of Ariela and Biniyam’s relationship, as well as where in the world they are living.
3. Alina (+22K)
Alina, @alina.otherway, might be the ninth most followed cast member, but she saw her follower count surge. Alina had less than 1K followers before The Other Way aired and she now is approaching 23K for a growth of 22K followers. Overall, fans have mixed perceptions of the Russian woman. Many viewers despise Alina’s fiancé Steven and therefore rooted for Alina to break up with him. However, some fans have lost sympathy for Alina since she refuses to leave Steven despite his infidelity, lies, manipulation, and hypocrisy.
4. Kenneth Niedermeier & Armando Rubio (+20K, tie)
Kenny, @kenneth_90day, remains the most followed out of the cast members, while his husband Armando, @armando_90day, is the second most followed. Audiences clearly love Kenny and Armando, as they both gained 20K followers this season. Kenny rose from 298K to 318K followers, while Armando went from 283K to 303K followers, proving that the love for Kenny and Armando remains consistent.
Kenny and Armando saw their season plotline revolve around wedding planning. While both Kenny and Armando still receive rave reviews from fans, some viewers thought Armando should be more sensitive to Kenny and his needs. Armando’s lavish wedding planning left little room for Kenny’s humble desires. Meanwhile, Kenny grappled with missing his American family while living in Mexico.
4. Evelin Villegas (+20K, tie)
Evelin Villegas, @evelin_villegas_ecuador, tied with Armando and Kenny by also gaining 20K followers. As the seventh most followed cast member, Evelin rose from 166K to 186K followers on Instagram. However, she has a far less positive reception than the beloved couple. Evelin’s plotline with Corey this season left many viewers furious after the duo revealed they were secretly married. Evelin was accused of being wildly hypocritical since she was upset that Corey dated a woman named Jenny after Evelin dumped him, even though Evelin saw other men as well.
7. Corey Rathgeber (+17K)
Corey Rathgeber, @coreyrathgeber_90, is slightly more popular than Evelin. Corey, who is the sixth most followed cast member, went from 178K to 195K followers for a gain of 17K followers. Like Alina, fans have found their sympathy for Corey diminishing as his plot continues. Evelin clearly mistreats Corey with her language and controlling ways. However, the American refuses to leave Evelin. Viewers were hoping Corey would stay with his Peruvian girlfriend Jenny, though Corey ultimately chose Evelin. However, it does appear as though the couple still generates substantial buzz.
8. Sumit Singh (+14K)
Sumit Singh, @sumitjenny, is the fifth most followed cast member, though he saw modest growth. Sumit had a growth of 14K followers, bringing him from 206K to 220K. It’s clear from follower counts and critical responses that many viewers have run out of patience for Sumit and Jenny’s story. After a decade, Sumit still can’t commit to his American partner and many viewers are sick of hearing his excuses.
9. Steven Johnston (+7K)
Steven Johnston, who changed his handle from @stevenjj1994 to @steven90day, has the least followers on the list. However, he rose from under 1K followers to almost 8K for a growth of 7K followers. Though that is more modest growth, it still means Steven has potentially 7K more DMs to slide into behind Alina’s back. Steven saw himself earn the status of a franchise villain for his controversial treatment of Alina.
10. Jenny Slatten (+3K)
Jenny Slatten, @jan_frmsan, is still the third most followed cast member from the season. However, her growth this season was by far the smallest. Jenny picked up 3K followers to bring her follower count from 263K to 266K. As with Sumit, it appears many viewers get nothing new from Jenny’s story. Many viewers urge Jenny to return to the United States and not appear on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way again.
