All 12 Marvel Movies Releasing After SpiderMan No Way Home (& When)

After Spider-Man: No Way Home, Marvel Studios will still have 12 MCU movies on the horizon. With the release of its third solo Spider-Man movie, the MCU will have put out four films since Phase 3 came to an end. However, that doesn’t mean Phase 4 is anywhere close to being done.

Prior to Spider-Man: No Way Home, the studio had already released three Marvel movies and a handful of Disney+ shows, all in the span of just one year. Marvel is marking the end of 2021 with the conclusion of its Hawkeye show and the theatrical release of No Way Home. In contrast to 2020, 2021 was loaded with new MCU content. Considering that the circumstances of the coronavirus pandemic prevented Marvel from releasing anything new in 2020, the impressive number of MCU installments in 2021 alone has been a welcome change in pace.

Looking ahead to the future, it’s clear that Marvel has no intention of slowing down. Based on what’s on the schedule, both 2022 and 2023 are promising to be extremely eventful for the studio. The months to come will add sequels to existing franchises, brand-new stories, and a ton of new MCU characters. Here’s every MCU movie hitting theaters after Spider-Man: No Way Home, and when.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – May 6, 2022

All 12 Marvel Movies Releasing After SpiderMan No Way Home (& When)

It seems only fitting that the next movie after No Way Home is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, especially since it’ll likely pick up where the former leaves off with Benedict Cumberbatch’s character. Following his alliance with Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, Doctor Strange will get a team-up of his own via Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch. Fresh off her evolution into her comic counterpart in WandaVision, Wanda will play a role in Doctor Strange’s mission to save the multiverse. Also taking part in their upcoming MCU adventure are Wong (Benedict Wong), Baron Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), and new MCU hero America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez). For the time being, the identity of the multiversal threat faced by Strange and his allies in Doctor Strange 2 is being kept under wraps.

Thor: Love and Thunder – July 8, 2022

In July 2022, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) will become the first MCU character to get a fourth solo film. When he returns, it’s presumed that he’ll be in the company of the Guardians of the Galaxy, a team he joined at the end of Avengers: Endgame. Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Mantis (Pom Klementieff), Groot (Vin Diesel), and Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) will all be on hand for Thor’s battle with Gorr the God Butcher. Played by Christian Bale, Gorr is known as an immensely powerful villain with a grudge against the gods.

In addition to Gorr and the Guardians, Thor: Love and Thunder will boast appearances from Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), and Russell Crowe, who will make his MCU debut as Zeus, the leader of the Greek pantheon of gods. Two long-missing MCU characters – Lady Sif (Jamie Alexander) and Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) – will be getting in on the action as well. It’s been confirmed that Jane’s return to the MCU will involve her becoming the Mighty Thor from Marvel Comics.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – November 11, 2022

Due to the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman, the Black Panther franchise will continue with the first movie’s supporting cast, but not its lead character. So instead of focusing on T’Challa, the movie will center its attention on some of the other important figures that live in Wakanda, while simultaneously introducing Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams ahead of her Disney+ show, Ironheart. If the various reports and rumors about Black Panther 2’s plot are true, war with another civilization may be coming to Wakanda’s doorstep. It’s widely believed that Namor the Sub-Mariner, the leader of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis in the comic books, will fill the role of the movie’s main villain.

The Marvels – February 17, 2023

Kicking off 2023 for the MCU is The Marvels, which will unite three major MCU characters. Originally expected to be Captain Marvel 2, the movie will expand its focus beyond Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) by bringing in the adult Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) from WandaVision and Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani). By the time the movie arrives, audiences will already know Kamala as Ms. Marvel, whose show will release on Disney+ sometime in 2022. Directed by Nia DaCosta, The Marvels is poised to be another dive into the cosmic side of the MCU.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 – May 5, 2023

After subsequent adventures in Thor: Love and Thunder and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, Star-Lord’s team will be back for one movie to tie up the remaining loose ends. James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will see the group continue the search for Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and experience a highly-anticipated first meeting with Will Poulter’s Adam Warlock. Set up in a post-credits scene in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the Golden Gladiator is a major addition to the MCU’s stable of characters and a major player in several cosmic crossovers.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania – July 28, 2023

Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) will have their work cut out for them in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania when Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror enters the picture. In Marvel Comics, the 31st century time traveler has a well-earned reputation as one of the greatest Avengers villains of all time. Typically, it takes entire teams of heroes to beat Kang, which is why his presence in Ant-Man 3 speaks volumes about the movie’s stakes and its potential to lay the groundwork for Avengers 5. The character’s invasion of the MCU was set up by the events of the Loki season 1 finale. Sylvie’s decision to kill He Who Remains seemingly unleashed Kang upon the timeline, who has already begun making some significant changes.

Fantastic 4

For years, there had been talk about what a Fantastic Four movie under the control of Marvel Studios would be like, and before long, audiences will finally get an answer to that question. Jon Watts, the director of the MCU’s Spider-Man trilogy, has been given the reins of Fantastic Four, which has yet to receive an official release date. Based on the available slots in their schedule, a late 2023 release certainly seems feasible. As for the villain, there’s no confirmation if Marvel’s First Family will be fighting Doctor Doom, Galactus, Super Skrull, or a different comic character altogether.

Blade

The voice of Mahershala Ali’s Blade was briefly heard in the Eternals post-credits scene that set up Dane Whitman’s Black Knight role. Blade’s one line was just a tease of what’s to come for the character, who will headline his own Marvel movie in the near future. Whether or not Blade’s fight with the vampires of the MCU will incorporate Kit Harington’s Black Knight remains to be seen for now. Rumored to begin filming in 2022, Blade could fit into Marvel’s late 2023 or early 2024 release plans.

Deadpool 3

Another movie that could be on Marvel’s 2023-2024 slate is Deadpool 3, which will be the MCU’s first-ever R-rated movie. While all other Marvel characters in Fox’s library are sure to be rebooted (if and when they’re used again), the MCU will be taking a different approach with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool. The MCU’s Merc with the Mouth is expected to be consistent with his portrayal in Fox’s highly successful Deadpool movies.

Captain America 4

On the heels of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier finale, it was revealed that Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson will be suiting up as the Sentinel of Liberty in Captain America 4. At this current juncture, there’s no word on when the movie will release, who will direct, or who will star alongside Mackie. It could bring back Sharon Carter (Emily Van Camp), Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), and U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), or it may give the MCU’s new Captain America his own supporting cast of characters.

Shang-Chi 2

All 12 Marvel Movies Releasing After SpiderMan No Way Home (& When)

A sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is officially in development at Marvel, with director Destin Daniel Cretton back on board. Given that it fared well both critically and commercially, it’s no surprise that Marvel’s Master of Kung Fu is returning to the big screen. Based on how things were left, the setup for Shang-Chi’s next fight is already there. His sister has taken over the Mandarin’s empire and the Ten Rings turned out to be a beacon that was detected by a mysterious, otherworldly entity.

X-Men

Marvel has already confirmed that mutants are coming to the MCU, but when it will happen hasn’t been disclosed. It’s possible that Marvel wants to make sure an adequate amount of time has passed in between the end of Fox’s X-Men franchise and the MCU introductions of Beast, Wolverine, Cyclops, Magneto, and all the rest. While a movie devoted to the team is inevitable for the MCU’s future, there’s at least a chance that Marvel will sprinkle some of its X-Men characters into its other movies and shows first.
