Amazon Dating Its Not Real But Its Equal Parts Funny And Disturbing

You can order pretty much anything from Amazon, including your next date. Well, almost. The online retail giant might have started out selling books, but since then it has grown to a marketplace where you now can find even the rarest of things. Therefore, the suggestion it might also be getting into dating is not that crazy.

A new Amazon-style dating site sprung up on the internet today. Instead of being filled with products, the pages are filled with profiles. That is, profiles with all the Amazon trimmings you might expect, including user review and low prices. By the looks of it, all the potential suitors also come with free one-hour Prime delivery as well – a great solution for those times when you’re in need of a last-minute date.

The Amazon Dating website has been set up with no expense spared as it looks to emulate what Amazon would be like as a dating service. The UX in general is identical and one of the strangely reassuring design points of the site is just how familiar it all feels when navigating. Those checking the site out for the first time won’t necessarily feel like they are on a dating site or app, but they will certainly feel like they are on an Amazon site. Further adding to the Amazon feel, and adding some sort of satisfaction guarantee to the dates, select profiles feature many of the familiar Amazon seals of approval. For example, the chosen few best dates are marked as “best sellers,” while others have the adding allure of an “Amazon’s Choice” mark.

Amazon Dating Is Not As Crazy As It Sounds

Although this is most definitely a parody, the suggestion Amazon could get into dating is not that crazy. Amazon already invests in plenty of offshoot businesses, and is always looking for the next big thing it can do. Dating services and apps have already dramatically changed the way people meet and the business model itself appears to be a lucrative one. The latter is certainly likely to be something that would make Amazon think twice, even if was only momentarily. After all, Amazon is already aware of everything you buy and search for, making its rivers of data ideal for matching like-minded people up.

What’s more, Amazon wouldn’t be the first major tech name to suddenly decide it wants to get involved in the dating game. Facebook, like Amazon, is another major tech company that likes to collect data, and Facebook has launched a dating service before. The aptly-named “Facebook Dating” went live last year and comes with many benefits over other dating apps, including seamless integration with the user’s Facebook and Instagram profiles. As would be the case with Amazon Dating, Facebook draws on its wealth of accumulated knowledge to help pair people up. Although, the Facebook Watch streaming service probably doesn’t have as many date night movies as Amazon Prime Video does.
