A new video from Animal Crossing: New Horizons showcased some of the content that will be added to the game this month of March, which includes a Super Mario-themed crossover, content for St. Patrick’s Day, and a lot more. Nintendo recently added a slew of Super Mario-themed items to Animal Crossing at the start of March as part of the series’ 35th-anniversary celebration. Some of the items added include furniture, costumes, and items from the Super Mario games, such as question blocks, character costumes, 1-up mushrooms, and functional warp pipes.

While many of the seasonal items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons are only available for a select period of time, the Super Mario-themed items will be permanently available in Animal Crossing. This will definitely give players more time to collect all of them at their own pace. Considering that March marks the beginning of the game’s Spring season for its Northern Hemisphere so many items that will only be available during the season will finally be collectible once again.

Nintendo released a new video showcasing some of the new content that’s being introduced to the game this month. While the Super Mario-themed items have already been added to Animal Crossing, the video reminds players of Mario Day on March 10. After celebrating Mario Day, players will then be able to purchase St. Patrick’s Day-themed items from March 10 to 17, 2021, to celebrate the occasion. The themed items include clothing and food items as well as furniture and décor, among others.

The video also showcased a few of the new animals that are being added to the game, such as the tadpole, orchid mantis, and spider crab. Bamboo trees will also be available in the game starting this month for Northern Hemisphere players. Players can harvest bamboo pieces from the trees to be used for DIY recipes as well as Young Spring Bamboo for items that require it, although the latter can only be collected until May. Finally, players may also encounter bamboo trees during one of the game’s mystery tours.

It’s been almost a year since Animal Crossing: New Horizons was released and while the Super Mario and St. Patrick’s Day-themes are definitely interesting additions to the game, a special anniversary celebration and event is definitely in order for the game this month. Nothing has been announced as of yet but it would definitely be a huge missed opportunity if Nintendo did nothing to celebrate the one-year anniversary of one of the biggest games of 2020. For now, players will be zooming around their Animal Crossing islands in those Super Mario pipes searching for clues.
