Animal Crossing Villagers That Will Never Be Friends

Animal Crossing: New Horizons gives players the ability to forge friendly relationships with all the characters inhabiting their island, no matter their personality types, likes, or dislikes. The same cannot be said for Animal Crossing’s villagers themselves. Conflicting personality types and priorities in life result in some heated arguments between different characters. These arguments can’t be settled with gifts or apologies, and player intervention often only makes things worse.

Personality types are a fundamental part of every Animal Crossing game. This function works to make every villager unique and provides different villagers with different crafting recipes in ACNH. The conflicting personalities also work to make the islands a bit more lifelike, as it tends to make the relationships between villagers more organic when not everyone gets along. Should players be looking to create some drama on their New Horizons islands, here are some Animal Crossing villagers that can’t help but despise one another.

One of the most popular villagers that players seek in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is Fauna. Not only is she an adorable deer with a charming personality, but she tends to get along with a majority of villagers that exist on an island. This doesn’t mean Fauna enjoys the company of everyone, as is shown with her regular conflicts with Chief the wolf. Aside from the fact that one is a deer and the other is a wolf, their personalities conflict fantastically. Fauna has a Normal personality type, and Chief has a Cranky personality type, meaning that they will argue over anything. Even small things like what time they wake up to how they treat other villagers on the island are all subjects that spark conflict between them. Chief has been known to spread rumors about other villagers on the island, adding another topic of tension between him and his neighbors.

ACNH’s Most Popular Villagers Aren’t So Peaceful

Raymond is one of the most highly sought-after villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, on account of his fashion and overall character design. For a time, Raymond flooded the Animal Crossing: New Horizons black market of hacked villagers and islands. As such a popular choice, one would assume that he would get along with generally everyone in the game. Apollo proves that statement to be false, often clashing with Raymond over his inflated ego. Meanwhile, Raymond takes issue with Apollo’s temper on account of his Cranky personality type, leading to an unending circle of disagreements and arguments between the two.

Perhaps the most surprising duo who spark conflicts in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is Judy and Sherb. Judy is a sparkling bear with a Snooty personality, and while her innocent appearance may be fooling at first, she can be one of the most judgmental characters in the game. Sherb is much more laid back, having a Lazy personality and preferring the smaller comforts of life to Judy’s flashy styles. Often, their conflicts will spark over Sherb not caring about his appearance as much as he should, with Sherb occasionally sniping back about Judy’s nonsensical tastes. Players can occasionally intervene in these arguments between conflicting ACNH personalities, but siding with one Animal Crossing villager over the other will only result in creating more tension between the characters.

With almost 400 villagers in Animal Crossing New Horizons, it’s no surprise that some of the characters butt heads now and again. A little drama on the island can spice things up, and let players bear witness to some of the most entertaining neighborly arguments in a virtual setting. No matter the personality type of the villager, the odds of one neighbor disliking another on an island are higher than one might think.
