AntMan and the Wasp LEGO Set Teases Quantum Realm Exploration

LEGO has just unveiled a new 200-piece set for Ant-Man and the Wasp, including the titular heroes, the film’s new villain, Ghost, and a vehicle dubbed the Quantum Vehicle. While specifics regarding the plot have been mostly under wraps, this set teases a major plot development regarding an exploration into the Quantum Realm.

Following the massive success of Avengers: Infinity War, Ant-Man and the Wasp is the next entry in the MCU to be released in theaters. Taking place before the events of Infinity War, Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne team up as partners in order to unearth secrets from the past. In doing so, they’re introduced to new characters, like Hank Pym’s former assistant Bill Foster (Laurence Fishburne) and Hope’s mother Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), while also facing off against a criminal known only as Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen). While there has been speculation as to whether or not the characters will further explore the Quantum Realm, which was introduced in the first film, this new LEGO set suggests that this will, in fact, be the case.

The LEGO Group has officially revealed the new Ant-Man and the Wasp set called “Quantum Realm Explorers,” available for sale on June 1 at $19.99. The set includes Ant-Man, Wasp, and Ghost figures, as well as a bug-like vehicle referred to as the Quantum Vehicle. Also included are Wasp’s removable wings, Ant-Man’s shrink gun, Ghost’s power blasts, and a trophy. The vehicle itself includes insect-like arms, stud shooters, two adjustable engines, three mufflers, and two display modes: hover and flight. Though there has been no official confirmation regarding the sequel’s deeper dive into the Quantum Realm, this set all but confirms the plot navigating in that direction.

AntMan and the Wasp LEGO Set Teases Quantum Realm Exploration

The unveiling of this LEGO set follows the release of the film’s new poster and trailer, both of which do little to further elaborate on the plot. Following the events of Captain America: Civil War, both Scott Lang and Clint Barton (aka Hawkeye) have agreed to remain under house arrest, considering that they are officially enemies of the state. So, in Ant-Man and the Wasp, that’s where Scott’s storyline will pick up (which would explain his absence in Infinity War). That said, his and Hope’s absence may well pay a significant role in helping the remaining Avengers in the fight against Thanos in Avengers 4.

As dangerous as the Quantum Realm may be (Hope’s mother, Janet, has been lost in it since 1987), it could potentially be what protects the titular characters from Thanos’ genocidal finger snap in Infinity War. Whether or not their trip into the Quantum Real is to rescue Hope’s mother remains to be seen, but the journey may be worth the risk, considering that events that happen in “the real world” don’t necessarily affect matter in the Quantum Realm.
