Marvel Studios has unveiled the first official Ant-Man and The Wasp trailer online. The studio moved quickly to ensure that a sequel to Ant-Man would be part of their Phase 3 plans, after the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie became a critical/commercial success back in 2015. This time however, things are going to be different, albeit somewhat similar. Peyton Reed is back to direct, but he isn’t jumping in after the departure of another director. Evangeline Lilly is also returning as Hope van Dyne, but this time she will get the chance to suit up – as indicated by her co-billing.
Ant-Man and The Wasp has largely flown under the radar thus far, thanks to Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War taking precedence. Still, the movie has been teased as being a romantic comedy. Basically the entire cast from the first Ant-Man film is back, though the sequel is adding plenty of big names, too. Michelle Pfeiffer and Laurence Fishburne are joining the fun as iconic Marvel character Janet van Dyne (the original Wasp) and Bill Foster (Goliath), respectively, while Walton Goggins and Hannah John-Kamen are set to cause problems as villains in the film.

Following our report the trailer would be released today, the time has finally come to get the first official look at Ant-Man and The Wasp, now that Marvel Studios has debuted the first trailer. You can check it out in the space above!
One of the biggest takeaways from the first trailer will undoubtedly be the first look at Lilly in action as Wasp. As noted by Scott, she’s got wings and blasters, to go on top of the shrinking technology. Lilly gets to close out the trailer with a great looking action sequence, showing off her entire array of abilities. If she hadn’t already proven how skilled she is already, she also demonstrates her resourcefulness by using a PEZ dispenser to take out one more goon.
As important as Wasp will be, the other half of the story is Scott’s. The trailer starts with him reflecting on the events of Captain America: Civil War. He is now the reason they are on the run, but Hope is quick to point out that they wouldn’t have been caught if she had been included in the fight. The trailer offers plenty of teases of Scott suited up as Ant-Man, as well as his Giant Man mode. With Wasp giving the sequel a new shrinking character, there should be a fun dynamic with her fighting style and Scott’s when he’s giant.
In addition, the trailer offers a quick look at Bill Foster, as well as John-Kamen as Ghost. She will be one of the film’s main villains, and has a nice looking all-white suit to help her standout. There is also a big emphasis on the overall use of Hank’s shrinking tech here. Between shrinking a building into a rolling suitcase and shrinking the heroes’ van at the flip of a switch during a getaway chase, it looks like Reed is elevating the action for Ant-Man and the Wasp.
