Trigger Warning! This article includes social media posts that could be related to issues such as misogyny, racism, colorism, and homophobia.

Fans have been getting to know Jamie Skaar on Michelle Young’s season of The Bachelorette, but old tweets from his alleged Twitter profile have come to the surface featuring problematic statements he appears to have made about Black women. Bachelor Nation was introduced to Jamie as a 32-year-old biotech CEO from Tacoma, Washington. He made it past the first night after leaving a great first impression on Michelle. In episode two, Jamie was invited to Michelle’s first one-on-one date on the show.

During his one-on-one, Jamie told Michelle that his mother struggled with mental health for a long time and died when he was 24 years old. Since then, Jamie has tried to overcome the painful loss of his mom after watching her struggle for so many years. Now, certain tweets from Jamie’s alleged Twitter account have come to the surface. It should be noted that some of these tweets date back to when Jamie had likely just lost his mom. But given that he is pursuing the love of the third Black lead of The Bachelorette in history, some of these public social media posts shared by Jamie’s alleged account are worth being examined.

Jamie’s alleged tweets were first reported by Real Bachelor Jobs, which identified the Twitter account @JamieEvans24 as being linked to Jamie Skaar. For context, this Twitter profile features several old pictures of Jamie Skaar and links out to a Facebook profile that is also filled with photos and personal details relating to Jamie Skaar. Screen Rant re-verified all of the tweets shared by Real Bachelor Jobs and can confirm that those posts are all still showing on the @JamieEvans24 profile as of this writing. Below are screenshots.

Upon further inspection, even more problematic tweets from The Bachelorette star were found on this alleged Twitter account. As seen in the screenshots below, Jamie’s alleged Twitter account wrote pretty offensive tweets about “dark skin girls,” which is defined (via Urban Dictionary) as a “term used within the black community to describe a person’s skin tone that can range from an almond brown to a deep mahogany color. This symbolizes strong African ancestry.” According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, colorism is defined as “prejudice or discrimination especially within a racial or ethnic group favoring people with lighter skin over those with darker skin.” As noted beforehand, Jamie was likely struggling with the recent passing of his mother when some of these tweets were allegedly written, so that piece of context should be taken into consideration. On the other hand, Jamie is a standout cast member on a season of The Bachelorette led by a Black woman. Thus, his opinions on women – and Black women in particular – from seven to eight years ago should be examined by reality TV fans as he moves forward on the show.

Lastly, the @JamieEvans24 account also shared sporadic tweets relating specifically to gay men. Those tweets (screenshots below) showed someone who has a distaste for interacting with gay men or seeing situations that he might interpret as being related to gay men. One tweet read, “Just [seen] 2 guys dancing together like gay pride. This p*rno might turn into a reality. [hashtag scary thoughts].” Another tweet read, “New rule: don’t wear tank tops if you’re a bartender. The gays will come [annoyed face with sweat emoji].”
