Bachelorette Why Tyler C Was Right To Call Out Yosef For Instagram DMs

ABC’s The Bachelorette wouldn’t be where it is today without drama, and Tyler C brought plenty of that to the La Quinta Resort & Club, the site of this season’s show, on night one. No, Tyler Cameron did not come back for a second shot at love on the franchise. This is a new Tyler C – a 27-year-old lawyer from Morgantown, West Virginia, with dirty blonde hair and bright blue eyes similar to everyone’s favorite Quarantine Crew member.

Chris Harrison called this new Tyler C. The Bachelorette’s version of Matthew McConaughey in The Lincoln Lawyer, describing him as bringing “laidback southern charm to the resort” in the Meet the Men of The Bachelorette season 16 preview. But in that same video, Chris also said, “Tyler didn’t waste any time getting into the drama. He comes into the very first night with a little dirt on one of the other guys and he’s not afraid to stir it up.” That’s just what Tyler does. On the premiere of Clare Crawley’s season of The Bachelorette, Tyler rolled up as he puts it “Clark Griswold style” in a station wagon, claiming he packed his entire life into the car to be with Clare that night. He said, “I promise once I clean it out, there will be room for a couple kids and dogs in there. I’m here to be genuine and be real. I’m a man of my word.” About a half-hour later, Tyler tells the cameras, “I know something no one else knows. If necessary, I’ll play that card to protect Clare,” in reference to fellow contestant Yosef.

Immediately after Tyler’s explosive statement, the camera pans to him telling two other contestants he knows Yosef, a 30-year-old medical device salesman and father, has been Instagram messaging other women during quarantine. Then, Tyler is seen pulling Yosef aside to discuss the reckless Instagram behavior, asking that Yosef lay it all out there and be honest. Yosef says he never recalls messaging any women on the social media platform after being cast. Instead of letting the confrontation simmer for weeks on end as is usual for Bachelor shows, Yosef takes this accusation straight to Clare, making Tyler out to be the bad guy. But Tyler was right to call out Yosef for his Instagram DMs. Yosef shouldn’t have been talking to other women if he wanted to find love on The Bachelorette or thought Clare could be the one.

When Clare asks Yosef directly if he sent a “good morning” video to multiple women that Tyler claims he sent, Yosef doesn’t confirm nor deny the accusation. Instead, he says, “If I was going to message someone, I have more respect for myself and I wouldn’t do that to myself.” He also claims he doesn’t want this to blindside Clare and must set an example for his daughter. But how did Clare not confirm the question she previously asked? How did she not see the trickery Yosef was employing? Let’s be honest: Bachelor Nation did not buy Yosef’s defense. It’s unclear how Clare did, although it’s possible she was too busy thinking about Dale at that moment.

Tyler was just trying to bring to light that Yosef may not be genuinely there for Clare. He even said in a confessional he wanted to protect Clare. It’s possible he brought the situation up early to get it out in the open, so Clare didn’t waste her time with Yosef. It seems Yosef is there to tout his newfound reality TV fame in hopes of attracting as many women as possible, especially if he did send out a mass video message, as Tyler claims. Unfortunately, Tyler’s attempt at helping Clare turned on him. Clare sent Tyler home during the first rose ceremony, but pinned a rose to Yosef’s lapel. Hopefully, Yosef will be exposed in the few weeks we seem to have left with Clare as the lead.
