Bakugan Champions of Vestroia What to Expect from the Switch Exclusive

When Bakugan: Champions of Vestroia launches in November for Nintendo Switch, players will get the chance to immerse themselves in its open-world, with a linear story campaign and tons of boss battles. To appeal to both old fans and new, the game will feature an original story, but it will also dive deep into Bakugan lore — including new details that are exclusive to the action-adventure RPG.

Bakugan: Champions of Vestroia can be played as a solo campaign, wherein gamers explore the world, complete quests, collect Bakugan and become a champion. Alternately, there is an online multiplayer mode, where players create Bakugan teams of three and fight others in real-time. To strategize the right team for victory, players will be able to see their opponents’ rosters before battling, which provides a unique edge.

Additionally, players can curate their teams based on each Bakugan’s unique skills. In solo campaign mode, players can train and battle Bakugan. This allows the creatures to earn experience points and level up, becoming more powerful as they go. Strategizing before each battle is paramount to success; only one Bakugan can brawl at a time, but if their energy depletes or their skills aren’t working against their opponent, players can swap them for one of the other two Bakugan in their pockets.

During battle, players collect energy hexagons and hurl them at their Bakugan to keep them going until they achieve victory. Fights end when a Bakugan’s energy is totally depleted, so in multiplayer battles, players will want to grab hexagons and throw them before their opponents can. Once all three Bakugan on a team are defeated, the team left standing wins.

According to the developers, completing the main campaign in Bakugan: Champions of Vestroia takes anywhere from 20-30 hours, but completionists will likely spend 50+ exploring and collecting. Multiplayer adds even more playtime to the title, since replayability is essentially endless with PVP brawls. Plus, certain solo battles can be replayed at higher challenge levels, with some bosses offering numerous fights to unlock.

Players also have the option to customize their avatar using a series of unlockable cosmetics, which can be purchased at in-game stores or earned through gameplay. The full gameplay trailer, with real-time battle details, can be seen below.

Bakugan: Champions of Vestroia is the first Bakugan game to be released in a decade. It will have a digital and physical release, including a Deluxe Version, which comes with a physical copy of the game, an exclusive Ultima Dragonoid Transforming Bakugan toy, an Ultima Dragonoid Trading Card, an Ultima Dragonoid Metal Gate Card and two powerful Bakucores.

Bakugan: Champions of Vestroia will be available exclusively for Nintendo Switch on Nov. 3. The game is currently available for pre-order.
