Below Deck Captain Lees Biggest Highs & Lows On & Offscreen

Captain Lee Rosbach from Below Deck has had his fair share of ups and downs since joining the cast, and it’s time to share information about his most dramatic highs and lows. Viewers met the yacht captain in 2013 when he appeared on the first season of the Bravo series. Despite his tough exterior, Lee became a fan favorite in the franchise. Viewers love his interesting yet comical metaphors and admire him for always keeping it real.

While he can be tough at times (he starts every season with a plane ticket warning), Lee is the reason why many fans come back every season. The captain has enjoyed major success on the show, but Lee has encountered a few obstacles as well. Here are a few of his most memorable highs and lows throughout the years.

Not Addressing Heather Chase’s Racial Slur

After this week’s new Below Deck episode, fans were shocked that Captain Lee didn’t comment on Heather saying a racial slur while out with the crew. She made the offensive remark after deckhand Rayna Lindsey said it jokingly about lead deckhand, Jake Foulger. Rayna was very open about how hurt she was but no one (including Captain Lee) held Heather accountable for what she said. Now, fans are starting to wonder why Captain Lee hasn’t commented on the controversy. His silence seems to show he is taking Heather’s side over Rayna’s.

The Death Of His Son

Prior to filming season 8, Captain Lee lost his son Josh Rosbach, who died of an accidental drug overdose. Lee was the one who found his son in his home. While it was difficult for Captain Lee to get back to work following the death of his son, he continued to film his Below Deck season. He spoke about the sudden death of Josh to help raise awareness about the opioid crisis in the country, and to help others who are living with opioid addiction.

Opening A Rehab Facility

During an episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Captain Lee told the host about opening a “rehab at sea” facility in honor of his son, Josh. The rehab will be a 470-foot barge that holds up to 200 patients and its staff members will focus on helping patients to get sober. Also, the rehab’s team members will teach patients life skills that they can use after completing the program.

Captain Lee has had quite a few highs and lows throughout his career on Below Deck. While he’s been through some heartbreaking times, he always stays positive. Even though Lee has a gruff exterior, he isn’t afraid to show his true feelings.
