The success of Netflix’s Bridgerton has led to a second season renewal and an obsession with the fashion created in this period drama. Every character was dressed in a specific way to show their unique personalities and family alignment. The Featherington women loved florals, while the Bridgerton women adored pale colors. The men were equally as distinguished in ravishing coats with accents throughout.
It’s hard to pinpoint which look was their best because there were far more costume changes in this eight-episode series than costume designers are given credit for. From lounging at home and playing the piano to attending a ball, the characters of Bridgerton knew how to dress.
10 Anthony Bridgerton
Anthony Bridgerton was a Viscount and the man of the house for the Bridgerton estate. With his father no longer living, all the pressures and responsibilities fell on Anthony’s shoulders. He, however, handled everything with dignity and pride. Looking after his family was Anthony’s primary concern (his own love life was another story).
While Anthony always dressed properly and well-mannered, one of his best looks was in the first episode where he escorted his sister Daphne to her first ball. His white vest and undershirt made him look royal among the other men.
9 Lady Violet Bridgerton
Violet Bridgerton was the matriarch of the Bridgerton clan. Without her husband around, she did everything she could to better the family name and put her children on the right track. She was proud of the way Daphne handled herself during her first season but she did worry for her.
Violet was able to marry for love and wanted the same thing for her children. The dress she wore in “Diamond of the First Water” was stunning but what made it pop was the incredible jewelry she wore.
8 Eloise Bridgerton
Eloise Bridgerton was the ball-buster of the family. She thought the idea of only being a wife was insulting. Eloise wanted more than to settle down for a title and security. She wanted to go to school, she wanted to read, she wanted to write… Eloise could very well set London on fire with her bravery in season two.
Eloise tends to wear dresses with a high neckline; she regularly keeps most of her skin covered. The dress she wore in “Swish,” looked elegant and breathable for a spring afternoon.
7 Colin Bridgerton
Colin Bridgerton was young but he knew he wanted to marry Marina after first seeing her. As the best friend of Penelope Featherington, fans hoped that Colin would see a potential future with her but he was too wrapped up in Marina.
On the day they were engaged, he looked as handsome as ever in this blue-on-blue ensemble. From the jacket to the vest to the white undershirt, Colin was no longer a little brother in the Bridgerton household; he was a man.
6 Portia Featherington
Portia Featherington appeared like an antagonist because she wanted her daughters to find love before their cousin Marina did, but she was just trying to be a good parent. Like every other mother in London at this time, she wanted her daughters to marry into a wealthy family with a proper background. Everything she did was for the better of the family; even if she did come off harshly.
On the day that Marina got engaged to Colin, Portia looked elegant in this lime green floral gown. No one pulls off florals as Portia does.
5 Simon Basset
Simon Bassett was the Duke of Hastings and one of London’s most sought-after men. Not only was he handsome and charming but he was a duke; a man of money, privilege, and power. Lady Danbury encouraged Simon to find a suitable partner to be his duchess but Simon made a promise to himself years before that he’d never follow in the footsteps of his father.
As Bridgerton fans know, Simon lost all of his inhibitions when he met Daphne. When he called off his little ruse with Daphne, he had to watch in pain as she flirted with the prince. And while he felt awful inside, he looked dapper on the outside. This pale blue coat and gold vest looked amazing in a sea of people.
4 Marina Thompson
Marina Thompson was a distant cousin of Baron Featherington. Lady Featherington thought they were being charitable by hosting Marina for the dating season but soon regretted it when Marina was getting more suiters than her own daughters.
Behind closed doors, Marina had a secret: she was pregnant. And she was willing to do whatever she could to marry before everyone else knew. On the day that she and Colin Bridgerton announced their engagement, she looked romantic in yellow with soft strands of hair blowing in the wind.
3 Penelope Featherington
Penelope Featherington was a woman of great promise. She was caring, beautiful, and a woman of great intellect. She was so bright she was able to pull off Lady Whistledown without anyone catching on.
Like Daphne, it was also Penelope’s season to find a suitable husband. Instead of actively trying, her eyes were locked on Colin Bridgerton. Whenever there was a ball, Penelope stuck to the floral theme like her mother and opted for yellow gowns. However, she looked drop-dead gorgeous in this rose-themed dress.
2 Daphne Bridgerton
Season one of Bridgerton was all about Daphne Bridgerton. With her being the eldest daughter in the Bridgerton household, it was time for her to find a suitable husband and find her own place in society. The queen dubbed Daphne as the season’s greatest treasure, which made every man in town long for her. Daphne, however, only ever had her eyes set on the Duke.
With Daphne being one of the main protagonists, the dresses she wore were all exquisite. The gown she paired with the prince’s diamonds in “An Affair of Honor” was unlike anything we’ve seen her in before. The black sash on her gown matched the black bow in her hair and showed off her diamonds. Another great look that simply cannot be forgotten was her white gown in “Art of the Swoon.” It was stunning enough to make a prince and a duke forget about everyone else in the room but her.
1 Queen Charlotte
It was impossible to choose one of Queen Charlotte’s best looks. She is the queen after all; there’s never a time where she doesn’t look the part.
Part of Queen Charlotte’s charm is her confidence. She owned every room she walked into because of her beauty and charisma. The yellow gown she wore in “The Duke and I” was superb but the crown and jewels she wore at Daphne and Simon’s wedding were untouchable.
