Fortnite’s ever-evolving battle royale mode has seen many guest characters from other franchises as purchasable or unlockable skins. From Rick Sanchez of Rick & Morty to John Wick himself, Fortnite has become a real-life pop culture variant of Ready Player One.
When it comes to applying in-game skins, there’s no shortage of variety, and some of Fortnite’s most sought-after guest characters are those introduced from the DC universe. The game has seen many comic book heroes and villains, but which ones are the best?
10 The Joker
Only available in The Last Laugh bundle, the Joker was the star character of the pack along with Poison Ivy and a comic book-esque armor for the character Midas. This version of the Joker is not based on any previously seen version but is an original creation from Epic Games.
The Joker wears his famous purple suit with a green vest, and said vest has “Haha” printed within the pattern of the fabric. It fits the showman persona that Joker is known for and looks straight out of a comic while still embracing the Fortnite art style. It’s also a rare spectacle to have a playable Joker in games, with the best previous example being when he was a playable character in the Batman: Arkham games.
9 Aquaman
During season 3 of chapter 2, Aquaman was the star of the battle pass featuring a shirtless skin and another with the Aquaman suit straight out of the James Wan film. Even the character model itself is designed to look like Jason Momoa’s Aquaman of the DCEU.
The trident coming as Aquaman’s harvesting tool is an obvious choice, but the seashell backpack feels out of place. Granted, there is not much in terms of options for Aquaman’s back bling, but it seems like there should have been different options for him. Still, Aquaman fit in well with the aquatic-themed season and was an overall well-designed skin.
8 Comic Book Outfit Batman
One of the first DC skins to arrive in Fortnite was none other than Batman. This one was simply called the Comic Book Outfit, which is fitting since it was a combination of the classic, New 52, and Rebirth comic designs. The result is a polished and well-designed skin for one of the first of its kind.
This Batman wields an ax with a large bat symbol for the blades and a glider in the form of the Batwing. There are many versions of the Batwing, and this one bears a resemblance to the Tim Burton design from which Michael Keaton flies.
7 Rebirth Harley Quinn
While the Margot Robbie-inspired skins were a nice addition, they did not transition to Fortnite’s style nearly as well as the Rebirth Harley. With the recent Rebirth Harley, she was given a red and black leather jacket from the comics that was somewhat similar to what she wears in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.
Combined with the Margot Robbie mallet and the new jack in the box back bling, it gives the new Harley a much more appealing design. As a bonus, Epic Games recently released a free update for Rebirth Harley Quinn to have the choice of either the pink and blue pigtails or the black and red pigtails.
6 Rebirth Raven
As the name suggests, this character is heavily inspired by her appearance in the more recent Rebirth comics. She sports a feathery cape, multi-colored hair, red gems, and everything that makes Raven’s design so iconic fitting within the Fortnite art style.
Her glowing eyes are a nice touch, making them stand out. Raven also sports two alternate styles: one is a more classic design from older comics, and the other being her civilian appearance as Rachel Roth. This one bears a resemblance to Raven on HBO Max’s Titans series.
5 Shadow Superman
The most recent battle pass guest character, Superman is a part of the Invasion event, and it includes the option to play as Clark Kent or change into Superman via an emote. However, there is a second Superman skin in which he dons the famous black suit from his resurrection in the comics.
This famous suit recently appeared in Zack Snyder’s Justice League and was worn by Henry Cavill’s Superman. While most fans might be happy with the black suit, Fortnite gives the option to swap the black cape for the classic red cape for a unique look. It’s surprisingly detailed with armor panels reminiscent of New 52 Superman, and it features elements from many Superman comics.
4 Zero Point Batman
In a large crossover with Fortnite, Batman awakens on the island with no memory, gadgets, etc. So, he creates a Batman armor out of the one thing he does remember—the fact that he’s Batman. The result is a warrior-esque design that mixes tactical armor with apocalyptic aesthetics.
With a tattered cape glider and a makeshift battle ax harvesting tool, the Zero Point Batman makes for a unique design that mixes elements of Zero Year and Knightmare Batman with a dash of Epic’s own elements. It’s rare to see a new animated Batman design that stands out, but Epic pulled it off.
3 Armored Zero Point Batman
Somehow, Epic Games topped themselves with the newest Batman skin which retains the makeshift look but still looks like an upgrade. Batman’s new armor gives him glowing blue eyes, similar to the armored suit Batman wears in the DCEU. This armor features more sharp fins with some sprouting from the shoulder pads and much longer ones on his gauntlets.
The armor itself bears a resemblance to Doom Slayer’s praetor suit from the recent Doom games. This matches this Fortnite version of Batman, who is always ready to fight in a war.
2 Bloodsport
To promote the newest DC film, Idris Elba’s Bloodsport was added to Fortnite. This makes sense, as Bloodsport sported one of the best costumes in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. From the xenomorph-inspired helmet to the copper plating, this suit shines rather well in the bright and colorful gameplay.
Sadly, Bloodsport does not feature the ability to turn any piece of armor into a weapon, but he does come with a spray to make weapons match his copper armor. Bloodsport’s back bling is one of the better ones on this list, a canister holding a Starro The Conqueror with the rat Sebastian strapped to the pack.
1 Wonder Woman
With Batman and Superman released, Epic Games surprised fans by finishing off the Trinity with Wonder Woman in a design that was heavily inspired by Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman mixed with the DC Animated Universe version.
Confusingly, she’s wielding an ax instead of her iconic sword despite swords being available in Fortnite. However, her glider is the golden wings from Wonder Woman 1984, and she has a cape for those who prefer to see Princess Diana with one. It’s a perfect starter skin for Wonder Woman, and Epic has already released an alternate skin with likely more planned for the future.
