10 Inmate Rosa

When Charles Boyle needs information from an inmate in a holding cell in the precinct, he sends the Nine-Nine’s finest in. Rosa Diaz dons a red beanie, white tank top, and gold hoop earrings and necklace to play the role of the average street tough.

Her naturally scary demeanor makes her the perfect candidate to gain the trust of other criminals. Boyle knows she does a great deal of acting in her everyday life, so she’s the only woman for the job. Rosa succeeds and gets the snitch to talk.

9 Art Snobs Jake and Boyle

Boyle meets the woman Jake thinks is his best friend’s soul mate, Genevieve, an art gallery owner with a passion for food. The only problem is that she’s on trial for art theft, though she claims her innocence, and Boyle believes her. Jake agrees to help him investigate the crime.

To do that, the buddy cops have to dress the part and infiltrate the art world. Boyle trades in his signature khaki for a sleek pair of black slacks, tie, and black frame glasses. Jake puts on a gray sweater and scarf ensemble.

8 Jake and Charles Small-Time Operators From Miami

Jake and Boyle go undercover to befriend Kyle, the knucklehead cousin of a big-time criminal that’s blackmailing Captain Holt. To approach him, they dress down in flannel and a windbreaker, casually drinking at a bar. Their cover story is that they’re small-time operators from Miami who moved contraband to Cuba.

The nondescript costumes make the play genius, as they mirror the target’s wardrobe. But, in truth, they don’t need to try so hard. Kyle is a gullible goof that makes their job of befriending him easy. It’s leading him in the right direction that’s hard.

7 Rave Rosa and Terry

A new drug called Giggle Pig is on the market, and Rosa and Terry are on the case. To infiltrate a silent disco, they must dress the part of ravers. Rosa dons a flower-print tank top, hot pink hair extensions, and matching cat-eye glasses, complete with a yellow sweater.

Terry wears a highlighter pink t-shirt that barely stays on his buff physique. As it is a silent disco, their outfits are complete with pink headphones, including a pair that is far too small for Terry’s head.

6 Fun Zone Holt

Being in witness protection isn’t the same as being undercover, but, when Jake and Captain Holt are moved to Coral Palms for their safety, they still have to fit in. Captain Holt takes the practical approach and gets a job at Fun Zone.

With a fluorescent pink polo and khaki pants, Holt embraces his new life. But, when he must wear a large gold chain with FZ on it and a ridiculous Happy Birthday hat for a child’s party, he joins Jake’s mission of solving the case that put them there.

5 Vaughn Tom and Twink Tucker

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is known for its hilarious cold opens, and this one is no different. Jake and Charles prepare to go undercover at the docks to break up a smuggling ring. They dress as their new personas longshoremen Vaughn Tom and Twink Tucker, complete with complex backstories.

But Terry breaks the news that the leader turned himself in at the Eight-Three as the mafia was closing in on him. Holt sees Jake’s and Charles’ disappointment and allows them 10 minutes to play out the roles they prepared.

4 Ballroom Dancers Jake and Amy

Jake is on the clock to prove that his investigation of civic leader Lucas Wint is warranted before he loses his job for harassment. Amy and Holt back him up, and the three go undercover to a ballroom dancing competition to get the evidence Jake needs.

Amy’s sparkling blue dress alongside Jake’s royal purple shirt under a black vest make them a sight to behold. The gamble pays off, but it turns out Jake stumbled onto something bigger. It leads him to join the FBI investigation against the same man.

3 Blonde Perm Rosa

Rosa helps Jake with his undercover operation by going undercover herself as a ditzy Jersey girl at the hair salon. The stylist happens to be the girlfriend of the mob boss Jake is trying to bring to justice. With Gina whispering in her ear, Rosa slowly gains the girlfriend’s trust to learn more information about her criminal boyfriend.

But the stint takes longer than expected, and Rosa ends up blonde and with an outrageous perm. It’s a great moment that shows how dedicated Detective Diaz is to the job and her friends.

2 Manhattan Club Jake and Gina

Chelsea Peretti’s final turn as a regular on B99 showed Gina Linetti’s farewell in four movements. The third involved her infiltration of the high-class Manhattan Club with her long-time friend Jake. The two wanted the chance to meet Mario Lopez to invite him to Gina’s farewell party.

In true Jake and Gina fashion, the two pulled all the stops. Gina donned a brilliant white coat over a light gray peplum top and pencil skirt. Jake mixed and matched a bright blue coat over a light pink shirt with a red ascot.

1 Fantasy Nerds Jake and Terry

Terry’s favorite childhood author seeks his help in finding who stole and leaked his newest manuscript. Jake goes along for the ride and the two go undercover as fans at a convention. Terry goes bare-chested with a pair of simple brown pants and leather accessories.

Jake puts on a full wizard’s outfit, adopting a charcoal cloak and fake pelts hanging from his neck. A bonus Rosa tags along and without purposefully dressing up she fits right in with the steampunk fantasy fans, only adding a pair of welder’s goggles to the look.
