Chicago Fire 10 Best Episodes (According To IMDb)

NBC has done a great job of providing an awesome storyline for a group of firefighters for the past eight years. With a cast so huge, it still gives off a vibe of being intimate. What Chicago Fire has done is not only set the bar in terms of drama but also opened the door for two other successful spinoffs.

As the 8th season gets set to close in 2020, we’ll take a look back into 10 of Chicago Fire’s best episodes according to IMDb. While some fans may disagree with their ratings, it does make for a great discussion. Here are the 10 best episodes of Chicago Fire, according to IMDb.

10 The Last One For Mom (Season 4, Episode 20) Rating (9.1)

Chicago Fire 10 Best Episodes (According To IMDb)

Four seasons in and Chicago Fire has yet to disappoint when it wants to tug at the heart. In this episode, it was more of the same for House 51. With Detective Holloway having to testify in her drug case, she leaves her young son JJ at the House with the gang. However, something goes wrong and news gets back to Severide that she’s been shot.

While each member is providing their testimony about their dreams as a kid, Severide must keep the news from JJ until his aunt arrives from California. “The Last One For Mom” was an emotional rollercoaster.

9 Deathtrap (Season 5, Episode 15) Rating (9.1)

Chicago Fire 10 Best Episodes (According To IMDb)

Emotion, emotion, and more emotion is the only way to describe “Deathtrap”. As part of a crossover event, this was the moment that Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, and Chicago Med were created for. With Olinsky’s daughter trapped in the burning building, Boden had to make the hard call to pull his men out.

Even with Olinsky pleading his case, it was a heartfelt moment that changed both shows for the future. It took all three shows to wrap one of the best storylines in One Chicago history.

8 Telling Her Goodbye (Season 5, Episode 16) Rating (9.1)

Chicago Fire 10 Best Episodes (According To IMDb)

Living in Chicago has to be rough. It was once said that a firehouse is sacred ground for any neighborhood. However, in this episode, that didn’t hold true. With House 51 caught in the middle of a gang turf war, thugs decided to storm the house seeking help for one of their wounded friends.

Instead of playing the diplomatic card, the gang members decide to take everyone inside hostage. Not a smart move. Casey is shot in the process but he’s not the only one. With Stella trying to de-escalate the situation, she puts herself in further danger. Luckily SWAT arrives and before long, all is well. It was one of the most intense episodes in Chicago Fire history.

7 Carry Me (Season 5, Episode 20) Rating (9.1)

Chicago Fire 10 Best Episodes (According To IMDb)

With Matt still dealing with the issue that Jason Kannel is going through, he decides to enlist the help of Boden to get Kannel’s name cleared. Kannel, still feeling the effects of the incident, is hell-bent on moving on from the CFD all together. But Casey is not about to let him go down without a fight.

On the other side of the episode, is the one fans hoped would not go down. It’s tough watching strangers leave this earth but to see the heartbreak that Kelly had to endure with Anna, was enough to break down the strongest of men.

6 The Chance To Forgive (Season 6, Episode 15) (Rating 9.1)

Chicago Fire 10 Best Episodes (According To IMDb)

Otis and Kidd are caught in a fire that erupts into gunfire because of the live ammunition lying around. While Stella comes out unharmed thanks to her radio catching a bullet, it’s Otis that takes the hit in the neck. The bullet is close to his spine which makes surgery dangerous. Choi looks in on Otis and realizes that Otis has no feeling in his toes. This could be serious.

Kidd and Kelly finally have their moment at Molly’s which begins their up and down relationship still going on today. It was about time Kelly took the high road here and confessed his feelings for Stella.

5 Going To War (Season 7, Episode 2) Rating (9.1)

Chicago Fire 10 Best Episodes (According To IMDb)

One-third of another Chicago Crossover finds House 51 once again staring death in the face. With a fire taking place in a highrise, the team has no choice but to climb the stairs. Otis loses sight of a mother and baby and believes they may have made their way to one of the elevators. When the doors finally open, it may have been one of the saddest scenes ever in Chicago Fire.

On a sad note for the Chicago team, this is also the Crossover where Jay Halstead loses his father, who was trying to be a hero and save one of his friends trapped in the same building. The hunt is now on.

4 I’m Not Leaving You (Season 7, Episode 22) Rating (9.2)

Chicago Fire 10 Best Episodes (According To IMDb)

Just another day at House 51. In the Season 7 finale, Severide is still investigating a case which his father once did. As he grows weary, he finally catches a break and is able to close the case in honor of his dad. In another storyline, Matt is trying to figure out what to do about his growing feelings for Brett. The House gets a call that we would later make changes to Chicago Fire forever. Everyone inside the burning warehouse is in danger and by the time we reach the cliffhanger, we know someone will not survive. But who?

3 Real Never Waits (Season 2, Episode 22) Rating (9.2)

Chicago Fire 10 Best Episodes (According To IMDb)

Gabby passes her firefighter’s test and to no one’s surprise then she’s stationed at House 105 with one of the worst leaders, Welch. Instead of taking the easy way out, Dawson decides to stay. Of course, she earns their respect. But “Real Never Waits” was not just about Dawson becoming a smoke-eater. This one was about the future.

Chief Boden decided to get married right away at the firehose and while doing so, sets something off in Casey who then kneels in front of Gabby and asks her hand in marriage. But wait, that’s not it. This is also the beginning of Mouch and Trudy’s relationship as well. Then came the cliffhanger with the building exploding with the members of the House trapped inside.

2 I Am The Apocalypse (Season 3, Episode 19) Rating (9.2)

Chicago Fire 10 Best Episodes (According To IMDb)

It was credited as a Chicago Fire episode but in all truthfulness, it was the introduction to another spinoff–Chicago Med. With most of the members of House 51 quarantined due to respiratory distress caused by a deadly illness, the firefighters, along with civilians are locked in the hospital with a cast who would go on to star in their own series.

We’re introduced to new members with one being Dr. Halstead. Yes, he’s the brother of Intelligence Unit member Jay Halstead. With new members introduced, we’re thrown a curveball when a lunatic with a grenade calls himself The Apocalypse. This episode was about meshing all three shows together for a chemistry check. Needless to say, it worked.

1 My Miracle (Season 5, Episode 22) Rating (9.3)

Plenty of action and emotion in this season finale. With Dawson and Casey still going back and forth regarding Dawson’s father and him staying in their home, they find themselves at odds while Casey runs into a building and just about gives it all up. This rekindles Dawson’s love for Casey and his love for her.

Mouch, feeling that he doesn’t have it in him anymore, is seriously considering retirement. IMDb voters did a great job picking “My Miracle” as one of the best as it offers everything form action, drama, suspense, and one heck of a cliffhanger.
