The creators of Chivalry: Medieval Warfare have revealed their next game, Mirage: Arcane Warfare, which introduces magic to the studio’s gory first-person gameplay.

Plenty of gamers probably spent hours attempting to smash in their friend’s faces with Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, a glitch-filled first-person medieval title that ended up being a ton of fun. Now, Torn Banner Studios is looking on to new horizons, and those horizons happened to be filled with magic. The studio has now announced Mirage: Arcane Warfare, a game that will look and feel familiar to those accustomed to swinging streetlamp-sized swords whilst slaughtering innocent villagers.

Mirage: Arcane Warfare does exactly what it sounds like, and adds things like fireballs into the mix. The game will still bring the studio’s staple “fast-paced combat gameplay and bloody weaponry”, though this title seems infinitely more colorful than the brown-and-gray graphics of its predecessor. With purple crystals and Arabic-inspired maps replacing bleak stone castles and gray cannons, the game almost looks like it gives off an all-ages vibe, but rest assured, blood will soon soak the colorful game assets. This is Torn Banner Studios, after all.

Interested fans can check out the teaser trailer below, which shows off some majestic landscapes and fireball-spewing gameplay:

As the teaser fades to black, the date of March 9 is briefly shown. That will be when the full trailer will release, which will presumably contain a better look at the new gameplay features, and potentially a release date as well. Seeing as Chivalry is currently available across most next generation consoles and PC, we assume that Mirage will follow suite, although the studio hasn’t come forth to confirm anything for the time being.

The website is equally as taciturn, and aside of the above trailer simply has a countdown timer with 5 days left. It looks like the studio has gone radio silent for the time being, but with less than a week to go until the full announcement, gamers shouldn’t get too antsy. Besides, this upcoming week has titles like The Division coming out, which should provide ample distraction. There’s also The Culling, which we actually mentioned as having a similar vibe to Chivalry.

This is only Torn Banner Studios second game ever, and many will be wondering if they can follow the massive success Chivalry attained. While those are some pretty big shoes to fill, it looks like Mirage supplies the tried-and-true gameplay mechanics of Chivalry, though we hope the finished game is still different enough to feel like a fresh title. In any event, that’s not bad for a studio that started out by making a modification for Half-Life 2.

Mirage: Arcane Warfare currently has no release date, but is due to get a full trailer on March 9th, 2016.
