Despite starring a cute animal mascot (a trend that was enormously popular at the time), Conker’s Bad Fur Day was unquestionably made for adults. It contained a lot of inappropriate material, including drinking, graphic violence, and lots of swearing. It was also very funny, full of great movie references and hilarious quotes.

The boss fight with The Great Mighty Poo is one of the game’s most popular moments. There’s the novelty of the fight itself of course, but the fight is also filled with some great lines. Okay, now this is what I call a platform game!” It works on various levels (the sexual innuendo among them), and it makes sense, considering Conker’s Bad Fur Day is mostly a platformer. An adult platformer, but a platformer nonetheless.

7 Were Your Parents Related? Like, Before They Were Married?

One of the funniest interactions comes between Conker and Franky, a talking pitchfork. As Conker succinctly puts it, “Well I never, it’s a talking pitchfork.” The two proceed into a heated discussion, which includes threats like “I is gonna stick my big fork right into yers.”

The fight eventually ends with Conker asking Franky if his parents were related before they were married, the implication being that related people produce less-than-intelligent offspring.

6 I Don’t Appear To Have A Neck Of Any Description! In Fact, I Don’t Even Have An Esophagus!

Shortly after being defeated by Conker, Franky the Pitchfork decides to commit suicide at the urging of his friends Paintpot and Paintbrush, who claim, “So, what are you gonna do now? Kill yourself? ‘Cause that’s what I’d recommend.'” After Franky tries to hang himself, both Paintpot and Paintbrush laugh at his failed attempt. Franky eventually realizes his mistake – he doesn’t have a neck or an esophagus, making suicide by hanging impractical. It’s a dark bit of humor, but Conker is quite a dark game.

5 “What Else You Need Is One Of These. It’s Called…A Bomb!”

The character of Don Weaso is an obvious parody of Vito Corleone (and all fictional mob bosses that came after him). While Godfather parodies were obvious, Rare also found time to squeeze in some great and unexpected lines. One of these is, ” You already got the disguise… so that’s that one covered. What else you need is one of these. It’s called… a bomb.” It’s such a ridiculous line, and hearing it come from a “serious” character like Don Weaso makes it even funnier.

4 What? I Don’t Have A Daughter!

Conker’s Bad Fur Day referenced countless beloved movies – including The Exorcist. After the Little Girl’s head spins around and reveals scary eyes, she asks in a menacing voice, “Do you know what your **** daughter did?!”

It’s an obvious reference to the famous scene in The Exorcist, but Conker adds another layer to the humor by acknowledging the senseless nature of the parody itself. Conker is quick to point out that he doesn’t have a daughter, and the Little Girl’s words become nonsensical parody for parody’s sake. That, in and of itself, is brilliantly hilarious.

3 It Means Context Sensitive. It’s Sensitive To Context.

Does anyone really know what “context sensitive” means when it comes to controller configuration? Conker certainly doesn’t, and neither does Birdy. Conker’s Bad Fur Day even has a brilliant and hilarious tutorial, as Birdy teaches you how to move around. Of course, Birdy has no idea what he is talking about, because he thinks “context sensitive” means it’s “sensitive to context” (whatever that means).

2 Suzie 9MM!

The Haybot shoots out missiles named Suzie 9MM. The missiles are quite seductive, with lines like, “I’m right here, sweetie pie. Just tell me where to shoot.” The Suzie 9mm is an obvious parody of the Uzi, a popular submachine gun manufactured in Israel and used by the Israeli Defense Forces. It could also be a reference to The Terminator, as The Terminator asks the gun store proprietor for “the Uzi 9mm.”

1 What Are You Doing? Hey, Stop Doing That, You’ll Go Blind!

Proving the game’s mature rating is some of Conker’s more inappropriate idle chat. Like some other video games, Conker will do some funny things if left in an idling position. One of them is saying this rather crude line that is assuredly not for children (not that they would really understand it, anyway). It’s another fantastic bit of meta-humor, and it perfectly encapsulates the game’s crude, mature, and hilarious nature.
