Counting On Duggar Family Issues Statement Upon Shows Cancelation

Even though Counting On has just been canceled by TLC, the Duggar family has issued a statement. The large family wanted to make sure they thanked their fans and said goodbye properly after years on the small screen. Over the years, the family has had their fair share of turmoil, but nothing prepared them for the eldest son, Josh’s issues.

The entire Duggar clan has been canceled due to oldest son Josh Duggar’s legal woes. Currently, Anna Duggar is feuding with her in-laws amid her husband’s arrest back in April. The 19 Kids & Counting star was arrested on child pornography charges, with a court date set for November after he argued for it to be pushed from July. According to the prosecution, Josh had videos on his computer of two underage girls. In the video, a male performed sexual acts on the children. The feds also found 65 images of victims between the age of 5 and 12.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are reverent Southern Baptists. TLC viewers watched as they raised their 19 children with a strict moral code that included homeschooling. 19 Kids and Counting was canceled back in 2015 after court documents revealed that Josh had molested five girls when he was younger, including two of his sisters. Now, the Duggar family is speaking out via their website, DuggarFamily.com.

Over the Fourth of July weekend, the family responded to TLC’s announcement that they would no longer be filming Counting On. The statement read, “It is hard to believe that more than 17 years have passed since we were first contacted by a production company wanting to do a one-hour documentary about the logistics of raising 14 children.” Naturally, their family has grown up in front of the cameras and the public eye, noting that “following God” is always an exciting adventure. The statement continued to say that since the family began filming years ago, they have loved sharing their lives and story with their fans which have included painful moments.

In the end, the family thanked their Counting On supporters and said they would forever be grateful to TLC for the platform. Michelle and Jim Bob also noted how magical it was to be a part of the filming process. The Duggar family is looking forward to moving on to a new adventure. Most of their children are grown and starting their own lives, so soon, they will be empty nesters. As for Josh, he could spend 20 years in prison and have to pay a $250,000 fine for each count.
