10 N. Sane Crash Bandicoot Isn’t As Good As The Original

Crash Bandicoot was a pioneer for platforming gameplay and graphical standards back when it was released for the PlayStation 1. In fact, few would disagree that the original Crash was one of the most influential video games on the original PlayStation.

However, it’s a Redditor’s attack on the N. Sane Trilogy that would probably ruffle some fans’ feathers. AdmiralOctopus96 says that “apart from being able to save after any level and the inclusion of a completed Stormy Ascent, N. Sane Crash 1 is inferior to PS1 Crash 1 in almost every aspect.”

9 Crash Purple Is Better Than Crash Bash

AdmiralOsctopus96 said, “Crash Purple/Fusion is a more enjoyable and less repetitive game than Crash Bash in my eyes.” Crash Bash’s reputation has slipped over the years, but Crash Bandicoot Purple: Ripto’s Rampage, a crossover with the Spyro series, was never all that beloved to begin with. Many would probably disagree with the user’s ranking.

8 The Merits Of Tag Team Racing

Einamu states that “Tag Team Racing’s designs hold up extremely well to this day.” As seen throughout the thread, many fans consider Crash Tag Team Racing to be the worst console game in the franchise.

For instance, Shadowthelogical said, “Crash Tag Team Racing is my least favorite console Crash game, and I think Crash of the Titans is pretty good.” ItIsOnlyDavid concurred, saying “Tag Team Racing is the worst console game with Crash Bandicoot.” Feelings are clear on where Tag Team Racing stands.

7 Sneak Shoes Aren’t So Bad

In a list of unpopular opinions, GarrettD100 states that “the sneak shoes from Wrath of Cortex are fun to use.” Crash Bandicoot 2: The Wrath of Cortex is known as one of the best Crash Bandicoot games, partially due to some additions it made to the original’s gameplay.

The sneak shoes, however, are seen as very difficult to use. When trying to bypass a TNT crate, for instance, many players find themselves unintentionally dying over and over. Add in a more complex level design, and the issue is compounded.

6 Lex Lang Over Clancy Brown

Many fans of the franchise tend to favor Clancy Brown’s performances as Doctor Neo Cortex from Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back to Crash Nitro Kart over Lex Lang’s subsequent work as the character.

Torran2Glitchy disagrees, stating “…I think Lex Lang’s Cortex is overall better than Clancy Brown’s Cortex, simply because Lex can pull of[f] a good range of emotions with cortex and do them well whereas Clancy’s Cortex is fairly one dimensional and can only really do well with the evil, brooding Cortex.” A fellow Redditor, Loganp812, replied with “that’s because that’s how Cortex is portrayed in Clancy Brown’s games. He has emotional range especially shown in Jak 2 and even Spongebob.”

5 Crash 3 Is Overrated

Warped is widely known as significantly less difficult than the original Crash Bandicoot. This is partially due to the addition of vehicles, which some fans found to be difficult.

Redditor boozbind had this to say about Crash Bandicoot: Warped: “I don’t like Crash 3 that much and it isn’t even because of the vehicles. Even the platforming levels are far less inspired and challenging than 1 and 2, and the extra levels and challenges from trying to 100% the game just aren’t as expansive or fun.” Many fans might disagree about how inspired Warped’s level design is.

4 The First One Is The Best One

Fortnight Games goes into detail about all of the aesthetically pleasing ways in which they think the original Crash Bandicoot has the edge. The developers of the original Crash game were venturing into uncharted, three-dimensional territory, and there’s a lot about the development of Crash Bandicoot that fans don’t know.

They conclude their defense of the original with “sure, it doesn’t control as well as Crash 2, but the levels are all designed with the clunkier movement in mind, so it doesn’t impact my enjoyment of the game much at all. Plus, I like that gems require you to do a no-death run of the level- they feel more like a reward when they require actual skill to get.” While the Redditor says the game’s difficulty doesn’t alter their experience with it, many players would probably disagree.

3 Without Mincing Words, Crash Bash Sucked

One Redditor, Fireboy759, went off on Crash Bash for the Playstation: “Crash Bash sucked and should never be remastered. There, I said it.” The poster then cites repetitive minigames and a plot meant only to copy the Mario Party franchise.

Continuing, the user said “The gameplay balance is downright awful (Dingodile and Rilla Roo are worse than everybody else for 90% of the minigames)… Seriously, it’s just crap. Just make a new one if they’re ever gonna do a new party game. One where the difficulty’s actually fair and the minigames aren’t repetitive.”

2 Nina’s Nightmare

One track in CTR: Nitro-Fueled has received a mostly positive reception, but Ricobcosta disagrees. “Nina’s Nightmare is the worst track in CTR Nitro-Fueled. It’s ugly, full of annoying obstacles and has a very unsatisfying layout (with few jumps, a lame shortcut, and sharp turns in a narrow corridor right after the only blue fire pad).”

“Playing it online is pretty unnerving because of all those factors and the constant use of items, and I just don’t get why so many people choose it.” Ricobcosta doesn’t like the track’s inundation of obstacles, but perhaps that’s what Nina’s Nightmare fans like about it.

1 No More Remakes

In a list of unpopular opinions, Loganp812 makes one thing especially clear. Point two is simple, “Please! NO MORE REMAKES!”

Going into detail, they say: “NST Crash 1 is better than the original overall, but 2 and 3 are worse than the originals, with 2 especially showing signs of some small details either being rushed or overlooked completely. Nitpicky, yes, but when comparing both versions side-by-side, it’s noticeable, and things like this matter when phrases like definitive version get thrown around.” The user makes the point of saying they’re being nitpicky, but players of the N-Sane trilogy would probably disagree, regardless.
