Curb Your Enthusiasm has become best-known for Larry David’s season-long projects, whether they’re genius, outright stupid, or a mix of the two. The Seinfeld creator has gone from creating Broadway plays to designing restaurants to even writing a reunion episode of the show that made him famous in the first place.

Unfortunately, as is Curb tradition, almost all of them end up getting dropped because of Larry’s impatience and disdain of those he works with. But as all of his ideas are so creative, it’d be great to see most of his projects come to fruition in real life.

10 Aren’t You Evelyn?

Season 2 of Curb Your Enthusiasm was the first to have a seasonal arc, as it followed Larry trying to bring one of his many ideas into existence, which would become the cornerstone of the show. The idea was for a new TV show called Aren’t You Evelyn, where Julia Louis-Dreyfus would play herself going about her everyday life, only to be constantly hassled by fans of Seinfeld.

However, as what mostly happens on Curb, Larry failed miserably after he had aggravated one too many people. But it’s easy to imagine how the show would play out, though it might be better suited for Jason Alexander, who played George, as Louis-Dreyfus has had one hit show after another.

9 The Restaurant

Opening a restaurant with Jeff Greene, Ted Danson, and several other Hollywood mainstays was Larry’s first foray into a business outside of the entertainment industry. But ironically, it made for one of the most entertaining seasons of the show.

Everybody who had a say in the restaurant thought all of Larry’s ideas were stupid, but he followed through with all of them and it turned out to be a hit. It was one of the few times Larry saved the day. Between each table having a bell with a unique ring tone, the strange military waiter uniforms, and the sweary head chef, it’d make for a great real-life dining experience.

8 The Car Periscope

The car periscope wasn’t technically Larry’s own idea, as it was an invention that he and Jeff had decided to invest in, but it was still created by David for the show. The idea is that the person in the passenger seat of a vehicle can look through a periscope and see far ahead of where the vehicle is sitting, whether it’s gauging how much traffic there is or identifying any obstacles.

The idea is a lifesaver for anyone who drives, and it could cut out a lot of road rage. It wasn’t the only great invention in the episode either, as Larry also came up with the idea for fold-up skis.

7 Starring On Broadway

Larry has proved time and time again just how talented he is, even if it has been in small doses. The best example of that was in season 4, when he was training for the Broadway play, The Producers. And against all odds, The Producers was a huge success, and it was all thanks to Larry.

Though, as most of Curb Your Enthusiasm is improvised and unscripted, the writer might not be so great at remembering lines for whole plays. However, just like during the Producers premiere that’d be even more entertaining to see than him reciting lines of dialogue.

6 Young Larry

Young Larry is the newest project in Curb Your Enthusiasm, as Larry creating a show about his early years in New York is the premise of the currently airing season 11. While the season arc of pitching a TV show to network executives might feel a little too derivative of other seasons at times, Young Larry genuinely has potential.

There are so many well-documented stories from Larry’s years of a writer in NY that could be episodes, such as when he quit SNL in a fit of rage, only to return to the office on Monday as if nothing happened. And who doesn’t want to see a 20-something version of Larry David haphazardly asking girls out on dates and negatively commentating on everyday life?

5 The Seinfeld Reunion

Season 7 is by far the best season of Curb Your Enthusiasm according to IMDb, and that’s largely due to the way the show expertly intertwines Curb and Seinfeld. The season sees Larry reluctantly agree to write a Seinfeld reunion to win back Cheryl.

As every major character of the ’90s sitcom returns, including Newman, it’s almost like a reunion within Curb. And it even sees the likes of Jerry Seinfeld, Alexander, Louis-Dreyfus, and Michael Richards read new lines of dialogue together. But it’d still be fun to see a reunion proper, especially as the season 9 finale was a letdown for many fans.

4 The Gotta Go App

For a guy his age and somebody who needs other people to do things for him all of the time, Larry is surprisingly clued up with apps. He was writing about apps all the way back in 2010, when Newman had created a public toilet-finding app in the Seinfeld reunion. But Larry still has more to say about them 10 years later.

With Leon, Larry created the Gotta Go app, which allows people working at toll booths or newsstands to order stand-ins while they go to the bathroom. It sounds like a great app that would be relieving for a lot of those kinds of workers, though it also sounds pretty illegal too.

3 Latte Larry’s

Being pettier is one of the ways Larry has changed over the years, and that’s no more obvious than with Latte Larry’s. When Larry had enough of wobbly tables and luke-warm coffee at Mocha Joe’s, Larry decided to build a spite store to put Joe out of business. And if the way Leon and Larry talked about coffee beans is anything to go by, Latte Larry’s served the best coffee in the world.

Surprisingly enough, of all of Larry’s projects, Latte Larry’s actually came close to existing. A real-life Latte Larry’s almost opened before the Coronavirus Pandemic hit. Apparently, they couldn’t find enough Purell for the pop-up store, which makes the whole joke about COVID hoarders in season 11 even funnier.

2 Fatwa! The Musical

Though some Redditors think Curb season 9 isn’t good, it was a perfect comeback after the five-year hiatus the show had, and it saw Larry return to broadway. However, instead of acting in a Broadway play like with The Producers, Larry was creating his very own musical, Fatwa!.

The musical is based on the life of Salman Rushdie, specifically when he received a death threat from the Ayatollah. The musical could be the next huge controversial but hilarious religion-based musical, following in the footsteps of The Book of Mormon. And from the brief musical snippets that were heard in the season, it has the potential to be a Tony Award-winning classic.

1 The Larry David Stand-Up Special

Even some fans may not know about this Curb project, as it was an hour-long pilot episode that isn’t even available on HBO Max, though it can be found on YouTube. In the pilot episode, Jeff is helping Larry put together a stand-up special, only everything is going wrong as usual.

However, there are clips of Larry performing stand-up comedy interspersed throughout the pilot, and they’re unsurprisingly hilarious. Unfortunately, Larry David has never recorded a stand-up special, and though there’s plenty of Larry-related projects out there, he’s the next comedian that Netflix should throw $20 million at.
