This week, Dancing With The Stars 2020 will air on Tuesday instead of Monday, and there’s a big reason for that schedule change on ABC. According to the official ABC schedule, DWTS season 29 is set to air every Monday night at 8pm EST on a weekly basis. This season premiered last week, Monday, September 14, and introduced quite a few changes to the format. First and foremost, model, actress, and businesswoman Tyra Banks was introduced to the fans as the new host of the show. Then, Tyra announced that longtime judge Len Goodman was not able to travel between the UK and the US due to COVID-19 restrictions. As such, veteran professional dancer Derek Hough has taken Len’s seat in the judging panel.

Some fans aren’t too happy with all these DWTS 2020 changes that ABC introduced this year. However, the network isn’t necessarily in control of all of these changes. Replacing Len Goodman on the judging panel, for instance, had to do with the ongoing health pandemic and the traveling restrictions that the international community is placing on travel to and from the United States. Moreover, the lack of a live audience on Dancing With The Stars season 29 is also a COVID-19 precaution that every single show that had a live audience is now having to abide by. This week, the fans are going to deal yet another slight change made to DWTS.

For this week only, the new episode of DWTS 2020 will air on Tuesday rather than Monday. The reason for this change is that ABC will air the football game between the New Orleans Saints and the Las Vegas Raiders on tonight’s Monday Night Football block. The game will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada and is scheduled to run from 8pm to 11pm ET. With that said, Dancing With The Stars will return to its regular schedule next week. ABC is promoting this Tuesday episode as a “special night” event, which means that the rest of the season will air as expected on Monday nights.

TOMORROW at 8|7c on ABC, Dancing with the Stars is back for the first elimination round! 😳 Tune in on this special night to see if your favorite stars make it through! 🌟 #DWTS

All in all, it’s pretty normal for a network to change a show’s schedule slightly in order to make space for a sports event. With that said, some of the Dancing With The Stars fans were somewhat overwhelmed by all the changes that they were introduced during the season 29 premiere. It is fair to say that changing the schedule of the show during the second episode of a new season is going to generate a lot of confusion for casual viewers that don’t keep up with all the social media posts and are also perhaps not fans of sports to know about the football game happening this Monday.

Thankfully, the fans can rest assured that DWTS 2020 will return to its regular schedule next week. This is just one exceptional week due to the big football game that ABC will broadcast.
