If Marvel and DC ever did another crossover, the worlds of Wonder Woman’s Amazons and Black Panther’s Dora Milaje would be an incredible team-up.

Although DC and Marvel Comics no longer release crossover stories, one that would be exceptional would include the Amazons of Themyscira and the Dora Milaje of Wakanda, blending two incredible comic worlds. While Wonder Woman and Black Panther hail from very different places, there’s no doubt the two would find they have a lot in common. After all, both of their societies include warrior women while frequently shunning the outside world.

Wonder Woman and her home of Themyscira debuted in 1941 (All Star Comics #8), while Black Panther was introduced in 1966 (Fantastic Four #52). However, the Dora Milaje wouldn’t appear until 1998 within Black Panther #1. While both Themyscira and Wakanda are based on different ideologies, the two have very similar approaches to organizing their civilizations and similar core aspects.

Themyscira and Wakanda are traditionally both ruled by a royal family, though they differ in structure. Hippolyta and Diana have been the long-term leaders of Themyscira, though rule recently passed to Nubia in recent DC comics. Rule does not pass the same way, but the leaders of both nations are warriors. Additionally, both have oftentimes cut themselves off from other parts of the world, largely for protection from outsiders. Considering the blend of traditional and modern aspects of both comic societies, it’s no wonder they’d want to protect their ways of life.

Like the Amazons, the Dora Milaje are warrior women who are intensely trained, though their origins are very different. The Amazons live in a purely female society, while the Dora Milaje are women gathered from the different Wakandan tribes. They serve as a royal guard, though they’ve been known to be matrimonial candidates in the country’s history. This isn’t necessarily something the Amazons would fully agree with, but their skillset would definitely be highly respected. The Amazons and Dora Milaje would likely forge a bond of sisterhood and if combined, they’d be a truly fearsome force to go up against.

Wakanda is known for its technological advancements, which is an aspect that Themyscira has lost over time. In its early comic history, Wonder Woman’s home was a place that had futuristic elements to it, such as ray guns and the Magic Sphere – an item that allowed Hippolyta to see the past, present, and future. However, the society chooses to remain warriors with a code of honor that does not apply to modern weapons. Nonetheless, the healing skills and advanced technology Wakanda possesses would likely be of interest to the Amazons, who have similar advanced healing technology. The biggest difference between the two apart from foundational belief systems is the inclusion – and rule – of men in Wakanda. However, Black Panther’s love of his home and protection of it is definitely something Wonder Woman could respect.

A team-up between Black Panther and Wonder Woman with the Dora Milaje and Amazons backing them up would be a sight to behold. Wonder Woman has teamed up with Vixen to stop poachers, so ecological issues would definitely be on the table as a potential issue to confront. The world of man’s approaches to war would likely also be an arena of agreement for Black Panther and Diana. While it is unlikely that Marvel and DC will ever bring the worlds of Wakanda and Themyscira together, the similarities between the two are noticeable. It would be a team-up for the ages that comic fans have not yet seen.
