DCs Vampires Have Made A Crucial Mistake (Not Getting Batman First)

Warning! Spoilers ahead for DC vs Vampires #2

While DC’s army of vampires keeps getting larger and more powerful with every villain and hero they either kill or convert, they’ve already made their biggest mistake: not getting Batman and his family first. In DC vs Vampires, the Dark Knight was warned of the vampire army that’s been growing its numbers in secret. In response, Batman has gathered his family of vigilantes for a rare daylight meeting in the pages of the series’ second issue, and they look ready to prove themselves as the vampires’ greatest threat as the event continues.

In the first issue of DC vs Vampires from James Tynion IV, Matthew Rosenberg, and Tom Napolitano, I…Vampire’s Andrew Bennet sent a letter to the Dark Knight before he was killed by Green Lantern, the vampire army’s most powerful converted member from DC’s hero community seen thus far. Having been adequately warned of the rising danger thanks to Bennet’s message, Batman wasted no time bringing his family together in the new DC vs Vampires #2, secretly testing the Bat-Family using holy water to ensure that they hadn’t already become vampires (as well as forcing them to hold a wooden cross as well).

Once properly vetted by the Dark Knight, the Bat-Family began using their skills to good use, thinking like their enemy to predict where and who the vampires will strike next. Assuming that DC’s villains would be the first to go (like the Legion of Doom), the Bat-Family believes that the vampires will go after those who they’d be the weakest against such as telepaths, magic users, and any metahumans who wield light (like the already converted Green Lantern). Furthermore, they also predict that the vampires will be looking to convert younger heroes as well, such as the Teen Titans. Clearly, Batman and his family have already been underestimated by the rising vampire army especially considering the entire arsenal of lethal weapons Batman unveils, telling his family that they won’t have to hold back against the undead.

It seems Batman and his family are going to be more prepared than any of the vampires’ past victims when the time comes to fight them. Furthermore, their new weapons and license from Batman to unleash their skills with lethal force suggest that readers will soon see a Bat-Family that has no limits, unleashed to save the world in danger of being overtaken by the undead. As such, the vampires definitely should have taken Batman out first.

Thanks to the Bat-Family, the vampire armies won’t have such an easy time taking over the world as they’ll now have to contend with being hunted themselves. Furthermore, Batman can start building his own army of survivors beyond his family to rival the undead. It should prove to be a brutal and bloody battle as DC vs Vampires continues.
