A new clip from Bill and Ted Face the Music shows Death playing hopscotch by himself before being reunited with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter’s heroes. The movie, which releases in theaters and on VOD on Friday, is the third featuring the titular duo, following the surprise hit Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure released in 1989 and the follow-up Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey, released two years later. The first movie saw the aspiring rock stars traveling through time to pass a history test and prevent the future from being destroyed.

The second movie saw evil robot versions of Bill and Ted traveling back in time to 1991 San Dimas, California and killing the heroes, whereupon they meet Death, memorably played by William Sadler. Parodying Ingmar Bergman’s portrayal of Death in The Seventh Seal, Sadler’s Death is covered in white face paint and speaks with a generic European accent. The 70-year-old Sadler reprises the role in Bill and Ted Face The Music, managing to sprain his wrist on the first day of filming during a scene where the Grim Reaper plays hopscotch.

Orion released a new clip from Bill and Ted Face The Music shows that scene, with Death playing hopscotch against himself. Bill and Ted seem to be in hell and find Death hanging out on a ledge with fiery volcanoes and demons flying around in the background. Accompanied by their daughters, Kid Cudi and other members of the cast, the heroes decide to confront Death alone. As you’ll see in the video below, he’s not too happy to see them.

The clip reveals that Bill and Ted journey to hell again in this sequel, and that Death has not being doing too well in the 30 years since the last sequel. The video ends abruptly, but Bill and Ted clearly need to get something from Death in order to complete their 78-minute mission to write the song that will unite the world create a utopia. With Sadler confirmed to have a fairly large role in the franchise-ending movie, one has to assume they succeed in talking to him, and he joins them on their most excellent quest.

Besides showing that Sadler doesn’t seem to have aged in the past 30 years, the clip also sees Reeves and Winter in fine form as Bill and Ted. Any doubts audiences might have had over whether the actors would be able to slip back into their roles should be dispelled by this point, as all of the footage seen so far shows that they embody the duo, who according to Reeves are definitely not stoners, perfectly once again in Bill and Ted Face The Music.
