With the new week of Destiny 2 content finally here, Lord Saladin’s first round of Iron Banner for season 3 has come to a close. While the updated PvP mode and reward system seems to have been a hit with the community, solo players quickly found out that the matchmaking system wasn’t quite working as expected. The Fireteam matchmaking update continued to pit solo players against coordinated teams, typically resulting in lopsided defeats for solo players. Bungie has acknowledged the issue, but a fix wasn’t able to be applied before Iron Banner ended.
In the meantime, however, Bungie is temporarily improving the Heroic Strikes playlist by removing the very unpopular Exodus Crash strike. The source of many complaints from the community, Bungie is removing the strike due to overly difficult sections which commonly cause players to drop out, essentially ruining the mission. Bungie has promised that the strike will return, though a specific timeframe or what the studio plans to change about it have not been revealed as of yet.
In the meantime, it’s Tuesday which means that the Destiny 2 servers have been refreshed and now offer plenty of new avenues for getting powerful gear. Follow this guide to discover everything there is to know for the week of May 29 including the NIghtfall strike, Flashpoint location, Leviathan Raid order, treasure chests, and much more.
Nightfall Strike Details
Nightfall Strike: The Tree of Probabilities
Nightfall Challenges:
- To earn Unbroken, the fireteam needs to complete the Nightfall with fewer than three deaths.
- Laser Challenge: Take five or fewer hits from the lasers in the Atlas Grove.
Nightfall Reward: D.F.A. Hand Cannon
This week in the Nightfall, players are heading to Mercury to battle the Vex in the Tree of Probabilities. Unfortunately, this also means that vanilla Destiny 2 players are locked out of the Nightfall considering that this strike comes from the Curse of Osiris expansion.
This Vex simulation focuses on the moment the cabal attack Mercury, so expect plenty of combat against both enemy types in the first section of the mission. Players will need to utilize their sparrows to navigate long stretches of terrain, while also avoiding lasers positioned at key points. Before long, players will go toe to toe with Cabal while attempting to locate a map of the Infinite Forest and identify the Cabal leader.
Before long, players will discover the identity of the Cabal Valus who quickly begins his attack after easily destroying a Vex Gatelord. During this fight, take care to avoid the red laser beams that have popped up and after enough damage has been done, the Valus will attempt to flee. Chase and finish him off as well as his reinforcements to wrap up the mission. A few community members have also identified a potential way to cheese the mission and earn the D.F.A. hand cannon a little easier.
Flashpoint Location and Treasure Maps
Flashpoint Location: Titan
To earn the Flashpoint milestone engram, players will need to head to Titan. Keep in mind that to complete this weekly quest, players need to participate in any of the Public Events that crop up at this location and don’t forget to trigger each heroic modifier in order to finish a little faster. Once the progression meter hits 100%, head to the Tower and speak to Cayde-6 to earn some powerful gear.
In addition, players can opt to take on Cayde’s treasure stash, this time also located on Titan. Simply visit Cayde at the Tower and purchase all of his available maps. The first time players return to Titan, small spade icons appear on the map, indicating a treasure location. As exciting as that may be, the treasure inside isn’t always worth it as it ranges from rare gear and tokens to exotic engrams and emblems.
Either way, here are the five locations players can score random loot on Titan:
Solarium
- After reaching the other side of the broken bridge connecting The Rig to the Solarium, the first chest is hiding behind the pile of scrap metal and beams.
- Continue through the hole in the wall and up the stairs to find Hive enemies patrolling around in front of the colored screen. Run past them, or take them out then head to the back corner of the area to find the second chest out in the open. Check the minimap icon for the exact location.
- Next, head through the multi-colored screen, head left and through the first door in the large room. Continue running through the path until a tree in a glass case is found. Jump up to the second level of this room (over what looks like glass panels) to find chest three.
Festering Halls
- Back in the main room of the Solarium, head to the right side and through the open door. Follow the pathway until the new zone, Festering Halls is reached. The first chest can be seen across the way, sitting on a ledge overlooking the zone players just walked into.
Sinking Docks
- This chest can be found back through the starting section of the world known as The Sinking Docks. Without a spawn point, players should fast travel to Siren’s Watch and work their way back, past the area where the walker tank public event spawns and through a door in a nearby yellow building. Continue to follow the path, past all of the HIve, and eventually down a set of broken stairs to a larger area with a lot of red. The chest can be found at the back right corner of this catwalk, behind the structure.
Leviathan Raid Encounter Order/Weekly Challenge
The weekly refresh also changes up the Leviathan Raid encounter order, keeping the experience fresh for veteran players while also helping newer players who may not have been able to play through the entire encounter.
Those looking for a challenge will find it at the end with Emperor Calus this week. To stand a fighting chance, make sure to read up on our challenge guide which provides a walkthrough as well as tips and tricks for coming out on top.
Raid order for May 29:
- Pleasure Gardens
- Gauntlet
- Royal Pools (Bath)
- Calus – Challenge
Crucible Milestone and Weekly Playlist
Call to Arms – Win glory by participating, getting kills, and finishing PvP matches from any of the Crucible PvP playlists. Finish the milestone and return to Shaxx to earn his weekly engram.
Weekly Crucible Playlist – Rumble
Heroic Strike Milestone
Heroic Strikes – Complete 3 heroic strikes.
For players looking for more of a challenge when playing strikes, the Heroic Strikes playlist is the way to go in Destiny 2. Players above the minimum recommended power level of 350 have an opportunity to score better loot at the end of the mission. Complete three of these this week to earn a powerful loot engram.
And that’s all for this week. Good luck, Guardians!
Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
